Most of my fish come from club auctions(shameless plug here) but I will stop at any pet store, just in case...

Spotted some wild bettas at Pisces for 17.99 each. Was told they're "Krabi" bettas and look to be members of the simplex group. (mouthbrooders). Pretty rare to see them in a pet store. Great in a species tank that's really well covered!!

We at the CAS are still working on this idea and would like any feedback. On March 12 and 13th, we are having our speaker weekend, show and auction. We have the speakers on the Saturday and are planning to hold a plant and possibly live food sale then. We are thinking 3 dollars per bag with 2 dollars to the seller and 1 dollar to the club. Please respond if you're interested or have any suggestions.

Should be the same as Calgary; anubias, java fern, vals, amazon swords, crypts.. Make sure you're getting plants that have been grown submersed too. Find some local plant growers and get your plants from them!!

OK, who wants fishy gifts for Christmas? I'm thinking I may have to treat myself to some show guppies as Santa may forget!! What else is everyone hoping to get?

Actually angels aren't that hard to raise if you hatch them artificially. In a community tank, the eggs will usually get eaten. Mother Nature knows best and if the water conditions go bad, an entire spawn can be gone in 24 hours..

Java fern and fish don't like the taste.
-
Sagittaria won't grow as tall but has a similar look.

You can actually pick off the eggs and put them in a breeding trap with antifungal and you should get some fry. Congrats!!!

Fyi, I received a letter from the provincial government outlining the new regulations coming into effect January 2016. I will post a complete list once I'm not working on my old(and super slow) laptop. But as of January, snakeheads are banned in Alberta unless dead. If you need further info, please call 1-855-336-3427..

I can bring some porthole livebearers...and will put in a bag of liberty mollies too. -
Been a couple of years but now have pairs of angels again. Nothing super fancy but I just love angel babies.. Pulled the first spawn tonight....Just when I've shut down a tank or two...
