  1. Ah, thanks. I feel silly for asking now. Hey Strayner, please don't ever feel silly for asking questions. You only get out of life what you are brave enough to ask for. 30 years in the hobby and I still feel like a noob at times. I wish the darn fish would read the same books I do as they certainly don't act exactly like books say. Cheers and welcome to AA
  2. Could be a german red or orange shoulder too. All of which are derived from the stuartgranti peacock. If your are not 100% sure I wouldn't breed/crossbreed him but a beautiful fish none the less. Cheers
  3. :welcome: Glad to have you!
  4. Hey Tigs, Sounds like a solid case of MTS in the works :welcome: Cheers
  5. Sounds like a fungal growth. I use PimaFix from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. It is a plant extract that works very well. It has a bit of a smell to it but that will go away after treatment and water changes. Cheers
  6. The fish looks exactly like A. carolae "Swallowtail" young. Nice. Cheers
  7. The Saskatoon Aquarium Society has had to cancel their show if anyone was planning on being there this weekend.
  8. Yep, she was holding. Five fry, two rocks and a snail! Cheers
  9. Cyprochromis leptostoma "Utinta" Julidochromis sp. "Kissi Pemba" Julidochromis transcriptus "Gombi" Neolamprologus multifaciatus Spathodus erythrodon WC Aulonocara sp. "Neon Blue" Undu Point Cheers
  10. :welcome: You will find a wealth of info on this site. Beware of MTS! Cheers
  11. Thanks guys. I knew some mouthbrooders took food just wasn't sure if the Tropheus were one of them. Cheers
  12. I have a female Green Murago here I thought was holding but she takes a few pieces of NLS when I feed the tank. Are Tropheus one of the mouthbrooders that feed while holding or am I losing all the eggs? Cheers
  13. Hi, Can anyone give me a contact/email for the BAP in CAS. I need to report some spawns and have had no reply through the CAS website. Cheers
  14. Welcome, Synondontis are great with most africans. Just don't get S. multipunctatus if you are trying to breed mouthbrooders. Keep an eye on the buy/sell many bristlenose and synodontis are available there. Cheers

Amazing, I can't wait until mine start colouring up. Cheers
  16. I was hoping to bring in some stuff too but I am in the middle of midterms  two on Monday. So I will probably not even make it down. I am sure it will go reallly well. I hope everyone goes home with lots of great stuff. See you at the May CAS meeting, I'll have my face in the books till then :bang1: . Cheers, Ken
  17. Ditto on the above above advice. A 25% water change once a week and NLS with treats. NLS has proven 2nd to none in terms of fish health and colour. Many of my Tangs have actually gone off other dry foods once they try NLS. The results speak for themselves. I suppliment NLS with treats like frozen adult brine, blood worms or a good ol' home made ground up frozen recipe, depending on this fish. Cheers
  18. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! If anyone comes across them in town please let me know. Cheers
  19. Anyone know where I can find some clay spawning caves around Calgary? Haven't seen any n my LFS. Cheers,
  20. Hold the fish with thier belly towards you so you can clearly see the area in fromt of the anal fin, this is the vent. There will be an anal pore and a genital papillia. With the females the genital papilia is wider and looks larger then the anal pore. Imagine looking at the vent and seeing two small dots or marks, if you will. Both the marks similar in size with the males. The females have one smaller and one larger. The larger one closest to the base of the anal fin. Something like so: Male Female o <--- anal pore--------> o o <---genital papillia---> O You really need to see some photos or live fish to do this right but I hope this gives you an idea. Cheers
  21. 1 table spoon per 5 gallons
