  1. thats awesome!! the way those two are goin at it your gonna have fry yearround!!
  2. best advise i recieved starting out was:: don't cheap out early or you'll end up re-buying for better equiptment later!!
  3. I personally think subjecting any of these to cycling your tank is a little cruel to your fish, it can lead to if not death serious gill damage!! If i was in your shoes with as many setups as you have i would take a bit of established media from a few setups and cycle that way. No harm or punishment to any fish and the job gets done probibly quicker!! Just my 2 cents though do what you want!!
  4. i use a small dish full of rubble with the netting over top of it. eventually it grabd a chunk of rubble then can be placed wherever..
  5. those are awesome!! i'm just a little jealous!!
  6. but salt is not a medical treatment, and should not affect melafix in any way. I have used the two combined on numerous occasions, being said tho mixing of more than one "chemical" aid to the tank is frowned on..
  7. he looks pretty ill, melafix does work fairly well, maybe try adding aquarium salt to your water to help his digestive track out along with garlic soaked food.
  8. another hello from lethbridge!!
  9. trying to find some local chaeto for my fuge, anybody in the area trimming their bush soon?..lol
  10. planaria usually stems from over-feeding..
  11. sounds like planaria to me as well

  13. I was told by the fellow looking into it that he's 99% ready to open a shop in lethbridge over on the west side.. As far as how soon..well economy does the talkin lately!!
  14. sounds good!! I've made a few road trips here and there so once you get set up and ready i should have a good assortment of frags to swap around!!
  15. mushrooms will live thru most anything. you can re-atatch the ripped off part anywhere and a new one will likely sprout in place of the old one.
  16. that would be sweet!! I'll get my camera out and send ya some pics of the frags i've got right now. Off the top of my head there's an assortment of polyps, don't know the exact names but theres a bunch, some pom-pom zenia, a single head from a nice micro-mussa, and a few others
  17. my calvus and front were doing the same thing, only coming out of the rock work to eat till i added 2 clown loaches. The loaches don't pester anyone but they are constantly moving looking for food and that seemed to flush everyone out and about.
  18. a penny in your filter will eliminate them because of the copper, just whatch your water peram's because iff alot die off at once there will be a large amount of bacteria in your bio-load causing a spike!!
  19. rockwork always sits defferently in the tank vs on a shelf. Personally i use egg-crate on the bottom for a good base then add my bottom layer of rock, then the sand then the top peices are trial and error trying to interlock them to make them stable. ( keep in mind cichlids love to dig and root around so anything resting on substrate will be moved)
  20. new group in lethbridge trying to start a good thing with trading frags as well as selling them, patiently awaiting a new sw store in lethbridge!! http://mylethbridge.ca/groups/view/id_32/
  21. I'm guessing it will mainly be setup for corals and such with one maybe 2 fish, first off do a bit of research into lighting and what types of coral or sps you want to keep. a good hob can work well on a 10 gal to get things rolling if setup correct. you'll probibly want to ditch the canopy and go with a glass top to avoid salt creep as well to fit better lighting. All in all its not that hard but don't rush and if your serious do you research and purchase quality equiptment the first time.
  22. nice work!! that looks awesome!!
  23. i don't have much but if your willing to trade pm me
