  1. You can view the items before the auction starts...usually 10:00-11 is a good time...but busy. People start bringing their items in early around 9:30am (I think).
  2. I think Riverfront in Calgary has a freakin' huge one that i'd peg at around the 240 gal. mark. Not entirely sure how many gallons it is though.
  3. They can catch fish if the fish are slow/maybe also asleep...but i've got them in with largeish catfish...and there are plenty of feeder minnows. I picked up both of these crayfish with my hands. They didn't even try to pinch me. My son absolutely thinks they're awesome!
  4. I'm sure we've all needed a little retail therapy now and again. I see lots of you out and about at the LFS hangouts...I know you all do it too! LOL I was feeling bummed today, so I made a couple stops at the LFSs. At one place...I stood to watch the interactions of a cute little guy. In FCGs words, "He Looked At Me!" So I bought, "George" and his lady friend, "Lady". I could only get one decent shot of George...Lady is a little shy. He may look plain...but he's fun to watch!
  5. featherfin rainbows are awesome!!! Luv those guys! I kinda miss mine!
  6. hahaha...Jayba, you should check out the Thai people's breeding methods! Sometimes these fish spend lots of time in glass pop bottles! The lucky ones grow up in round cement pools with their siblings before they get shipped out!
  7. Canisters rock 'cause you can put the return under the water level...they usually almost are self priming too...Which is a huge selling point for me!
  8. Probably around a year IMO. Some of course may be younger, or older...but when they're old old...you can usually tell.
  9. I like what you did with the spec! I'm thinking I need a few more tanks now. lol
  10. Welcome! I think many of us have been where you are! Isn't it exciting to think of the possibilities when there is an auction just around the corner?
  11. I highly suggest you have lots of microscopic food for future fry on hand. It's super easy to breed bettas. Harder to raise super tiny fry with food to big for them to eat! (I know this first hand. Lol)
  12. HAHAHAHAHA...Ignorance is bliss...yes Planaria are creepy...so I don't look that closely.
  13. Welcome to the forum! We luv fish pics here...so feel free to share more!
  14. You can join at the meeting!! Edit: Next meeting is Feb. 12, 2013. A new member suggested the Jar show be on Shrimp! So it should be awesome!

    Hi

    Welcome to the forum!
  16. It really varies...they're really big...so they would need to go to a big tank...if someone had something that they would fit in they might purchase. The smaller ones can sell for as little as $5...larger, maybe $20-$30? Those two, you might be able to get $50 or a decent trade.
  17. Whoa...those are crazy big Toadstools.
  18. Congrats on the fry! I always strip by females after a couple weeks...or when I see there are free swimming fry in Mom's mouth. I also keep adult fish seperate from fry until the fry are no longer tasty morsels. I usually use a HOB or an internal filter...always from an established tank. Depending on size of the fry, i'll feed micro live food to crushed NLS or other fellet food\ or flake...whatever I have on hand. Keep up on your water changes and feeding and they'll grow like weeds for ya. Best of Luck!
  19. Fish will survive a 28 hr trip. Of course if baggage people treat the luggage poorly...there may be issues. You might luck out though. As for allowable fish and permits...that's another story. Have fun!
  20. welcome to the forum! Some of us are just nuts for animals period...not just fish. There is no singular paint brush here! I personally wouldn't be worried if your water dragon caught the odd fish...heck, some of the fish we keep are adept at catching/eating other fish. I too would be interested in seeing your finished project!
