  1. WOW. That's all i've got to say about that. WOW.
  2. Oh that sucks...sorry to hear about the losses. I've been loosing fish left and right lately too...though not heater related...I hate loosing fish.
  3. There's a lady on the net, who deal mainly in Bettas...she has a method that she swears works the best...but involves 'surgery'. I read it, just to read it...you might find it a good read. www.bettatalk.com
  4. When I drove to the Yukon last summer I saw a bunch of these guys by Liard Hot Springs...they were everywhere. There was also a big guy there that was lame in one leg...felt so bad for him, but he's still truckin around so he can't be too badly off. Beautiful animals though. I like the 3rd pic the best...he's got attitude.
  5. What do you have in your tank for substrate? Decorations (ie. driftwood)? Aquarium salt? What are your fish?
  6. I find YoYo Loaches to be fun to watch! Even if they do eat the shrimp they're worth it! I have 3 in with my tangs and they are ever so active. They also add a nice color pattern to the tank.
  7. Looks good! The choice of Gourami was nice with those other fish
  8. Oh man!! I'm stuck here in Calgary!!! I wish we had a store that had them on clearance!! LOL
  9. Pygmy Chain Sword (Echinodorus Tenellus) Amazon Sword (Echinodorus Amazonicus) Hornwort (Ceratophyllum Demersum) Ludwigia Repens Pearlweed (Hemianthus micranthemoides) Java Moss (Taxiphyllum Barbieri) Flame Moss Riccia Fluitans Pennywort (Hydrocotyle Leucocephala) Cryptocoryne Wendtii Duckweed (Lemna minor)
  10. hahaha...I know the Bow River is packed with Brown's!! LOL
  11. Throw in a large piece of cucumber, wait till early morning and you'll find the snails on the cuc...then just remove the cuc. Or you can get yourself a yoyo loach or something, but i'd assume that the pirhana would eat them just the same. I've heard that the 'Snail-B-Gone' stuff doesn't really work all that well...I personally just leave 'em be. When they get to be too many, they tend to bunch up at the surface for some reason (snail happy times??) and I just scoop 'em out.
  12. haha...ooops...I should have put that...it's one of those air pump intake filters, not a sponge filter, but very similar...it has a sponge at the bottom and charcoal at the top...but runs on the power of the air pump...right now it's not on, I thought i'd give 'em a couple days before i put it on.
  13. I put my trusty pair together again after about 4 weeks of waiting. This is the 3rd time for the female, and 2nd for the male. As before, the eggs hatched on day 2 and the fry are swimming around. This time, I put in a small, submersable filter, so hopefully the fry will last past 2 weeks and live long and happy lives (?). I'm going to cross my fingers they do! I'd love to be able to say I did it right at least once! Hahahaha
  14. Sounds like it's going to be an awesome looking tank once all the colors are full on! Nice list.

    Hello

:welcome: You're gonna luv it here! lol
  16. I've seen some pretty outrageous prices out there, here in Calgary though, at one of our LFS a brand new 90 gallon with glass top is $150+tax...sorry, no idea what it costs to drill one.
  17. I think Fleshgear (on here...) is breeding Bronze Cory's If you wait for the 2nd Saturday of each month, Riverfront Aquariums has their FW fish on for 2 for 1 and they usually have a good assortment of cory's to choose from and range in price from $4-$10ish. Pretty much all the LFS in Calgary have cory's and they're usually not to badly priced. If you can wait a really long time...there will likely be a Fall auction in both Edmonton and Calgary, and there's always cory's there.
  18. I think they'll be fine...I saw a few over at a LFS in a large display tank and they were seemingly fine. Though, they might pick on other fish (probably some small ones too) as they are semi-aggresive. At almost full grown, i'd say they'll definately defend themselves (fight/flight).
  19. B-E-A-U-tiful! I'm jealous! I wish I had the room...oh and the money...lol
  20. Have you tried the Public Library? They have some listings...?? https://catalogue.calgarypubliclibrary.com/...words+or+phrase
  21. Yappy dogs?? LOL j/k but maybe! Nothing else feasible comes to mind.
  22. Good to hear wonderful dealings! Congrats on the healthy fish! I was looking at those Emperor Chichlids the other day just to look, and do they ever look sweet!
  23. sweet! Just in time for the fall auction??!! LOL
