  1. I'm doing the same, with my 10 gallon. I was going to put in some shrimp, but decided that those will wait for awhile. I haven't found any lighting yet, but I really have to get on that fast before my plants arrive! Good luck with yours!

  6. I love the Saulosi's, but man, my males were nasty! Bitting and agressiveness all over the place! I'd rather stick with the Yellow Labs too! Except now i'm into Tanganyikans.

Welcome! :drunk: There are a lot of very knowledgeable people here...hahaha...no me though...but I`m learning!
  8. That's unfortunate that the first batch didn't work out...I can imagine how frustrating that must have been. Hopefully things will be different for this new batch of yours. I'm really hoping they work for you, 'cause if they work for you I may try it too...I'm super tempted to buy the eggs off of either Ebay of Aquabid. Please keep us updated! I'm very interested to know the outcome, hopefully Great! Cheers, Cate
  9. Nice...I saw a really nice one at BA today in a display tank, not sure what it was, but I loved it. I can't wait to get my hands on some! That's awesome that yours have already started breeding! Congrats! The display tank with the foam background. And only one killi in there. That is a male garderni Yup..that's the one! I saw him and fell in love with him..you're soooo lucky! I went back around to the tanks to make sure I didn't miss a tank of 'em but they had only two other kinds...they were nice..,.but not as nice as him.

  11. Did you end up getting your killifish off of ebay or a store?
  12. Both Calgary and Edmonton aquarium societies are having their auction on March 8th. I'm heading up to Edmonton!
  13. I shop around at almost all of the petstores/aquarium stores here in Calgary weekly...just to see what's new and what the prices are of potential fish for my tanks...I agree that Gold's is one of the best places, Dennis (the owner) will not steer you wrong (at least in my experience) and he also sells his supplies for a lot less than almost all of the other stores. But most of my fish come from people who I now know are on this forum and from www.kijiji.ca You get a way better deal and more often than not the fish aren't stressed or diseased. (http://www.piscespets.com/Specials.html will show you any/all specials for plants/fish/supplies they have on a weekly and monthly basis.) Happy hunting!
  14. The tank is a 45 Gallon (long), and thanks! I foresee a larger tank in the future now...haha.
  15. Soooo...I've read a lot in here and everywhere that you should stick to keeping cichlids within their own lakes...I really really like my peacock cichlids (Blue and Ruby red albinos) and I really really like my leleupi's and brichardi's...but these two are obviously from different lakes. The Peacocks are fairly non agressive and the tanganikans are still 2 inches and under...do you guys/gals think this arrangement will be ok when everyone is grown or will I need to get another tank? Thanks!
  16. hahaha...this is quite amusing...I never thought about these shrimp living in filters and having a feast! I'm looking at getting some too 'cause I think they're cool to watch! Can't wait!
  17. So I put the pair of purple SD together again for the THIRD time!!! He finally got the hint and I've got eggs. Only got a couple of fry from the black copper dragon HM pair so I'll have to try them again. Again why do I breed bettas? 'Cause they're so Pretty!!! haha
  18. hahaha...I cheap out and use long dressers...then there's a drawer for all the aquarium stuff! But then again, i'm not running huge aquariums...just 45 gallons and under.
  19. hahaha...I thought i'd be nice and keep an airstone in there for the pleco that's in the tank with them.
  20. Yes, I truly do think they're pretty...when I get their 10 gal. set up I might be able to get better pics...but for now they call a smaller hexagon home.
  21. A couple weeks ago I brought home two gorgeous Plakat girls...so I just wanna show 'em off. The pics aren't great, but you can see the colors, which are amazing for females...love 'em.
