  1. My incas where breeding until the male was tired of this crule crule world and committed suicide by jumping out ! My Bitaeniata's are trying but 5 males to one female is not working out too well lol .... Blake
  2. Lol no ! No puffers A . Bitaeniata's red and orange A . Inca females One guppy and some Otto's Oh and my ph sits around 6.1 - 5.8 Blake
  3. Thought I'd share a pic of my blackwater Biotope with the new wood that just fits after hacking off a few inches of the bottom ! There is no room left for the rest of the wood I picked up . Lol Blake
  4. Big ALS has some A. Cacatoide "orange " and well cacatoides are a little more hardy when it comes to water parameters as where alot of other apistogrammas don't do so well unless ya give them a more acidic and softer water . Make sure ya research ! I jumped head first and hit a few walls ! But like ya said " keep learning " now that I have an understanding of the fish I keep I love these dwarfs ! Now finding the ones ya want is the tricky part . Blake
  5. If yer looking for black eggcrate then check this http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=31657&st=0&p=2231345&hl=eggcrate&fromsearch=1entry2231345 Blake
  6. It's crossed my mind to get a slightly bigger tank but iv not seen any that I realy want and since my tanks are in my livingroom they need to look good and not all tossed together ...that is why I like the aquagiant tanks they got the full hoods and matching stands I don't want ta cut this wood as I think any way I do will not look as good Blake
  7. Ok so once again I ordered from this guy and once again I'm a happy guy ! I ordered 2 pieces one large piece and a medium size piece of manzanita . I received my drift wood yesterday and should see my manzanita today or Monday . Driftwood cost me $49 that includes the shipping . Weight is 15.5 pounds Now due to my own stupidity I thought my tank was 20" high but I was wrong it's in fact 16" high and well the wood stands at 20" ! So until I can think of something I can't get it in my tank . Lol. My point is $49 is a damn good price for a piece this size ! That's roughly a lil more then $3 a pound ! I'm ok with that ! I will post pics of the other piece as soon as it comes in Blake
  8. Ha ha I put a spixi snail in my planted tank and you bet he took care of the hydra ! But the little SOB took it upon itself to think my glosso and dwarf hairgrass was to tall and mowed it ! Well that was enough of that ! Off to the blackwater tank he went ! if he finds a plant in there he is more then welcome to buffet world it ! Blake
  9. Now I read the title of this post ! " good idea gone very bad " i still can not connect the title with what I just read in this post . I was expecting something like " drilling holes for bulkheads while tank is full " or I put colorful saltwater fish in fresh water " those would be ideas gone bad ! Maybe my long day has me not thinking straight but I'm not getting it ! But since it was asked " how we view " I mostly just take a few minutes ta admire my tanks when I walk by or when I'm eating or when the lady of the house is watching gossip girl , biggest loser , Hana Montana and let's not forget super nanny ! But I think most of my time in front of the tank is when my 2 year old thinks it's time to " whats that ? What's that ? Wow what's that ? And every time it's the same amono shrimp ! I even try pointing out fish and he will be like " cool " but what's that ? Yup the attention span of a hamster ! Blake
  10. Piffffff you totaly have more room on that left side for another AC !!! Come on ! Ya want yer fish swimming in filth ? Lol Blake
  11. That's awesome ! My glosso is just recovering from a spixi snail attack ! Iv never seen glosso flower ! What ever yer doing keep doing it ! Blake
  12. """ I've used Seachem products but now use dry ferts. Excel is a carbon supplement. It works well but don't overdose it. I would use the same dosage and not add extra on water change day. People tend to melt plants doing that. Flourish can be nice but you'd only need a few drops a few times a week.""" Not add extra on water change day ? ! You indeed need to replenish when you change water . I double dose and have had no plants melt . now I know there are some plants out there that are sensitive to excel but it's only a few . Double doseing keeps the algea at bay " IMO " Blake
  13. It depends of what kind of dwarfs you plan on keeping . I have Apistogramma Bitaeniata Sp. Reds Apistogramma Bitaeniata Sp. Orange In a wood and leaf tank as they do better there and I have Apistogramma Cacatuoide in my planted tank as he does better there ... Find out what kind you want and then go from there Blake
  14. Them are some deadly shots !!! Blake

  16. I asked that same question when I first joined ... I think it would be awesome ta have a shout box so we can all chat ! Rather then having 10 different pm messages I don't think I ever got a response ... I think I'd even donate to the site to help support it ! Blake
