  1. Oops! Yes, it paralyzes them...sorry about that mistake! You'd think I wouldn't mix that up after going through it twice lol Thanks for correcting me Another tip. If the worms don't come out of the fish at all after dosing (for instance a few days), then you may have to take the fish out into a container, get some tweezers, and VERY gently pull on the worm. I had to do that with my Apisto. It came out really easy for me, but for some reason she couldn't get it out...I think it was because she wasn't pooping so nothing was pushing the worm out. Using that method is a last resort, since pulling the worm might cause some damage, but if the worm doesn't come out then that's not good either.
  2. The better of the two? No idea. I've used Levamisole and it worked both times, but Panacur is something I'm unfamiliar with. Though at that price, I may have to learn more about it.
  3. It's a good idea to treat all tanks. It can be easily transferred to others. Sprucegruve described them perfectly...a plague. I've had it twice, and it made it to every tank I had at the time. The meds will kill the worms, but not the eggs, which is why you need 2-3 doses of it spread between about a 14 day period. They're a pain to get rid of, but if you follow the directions then you should be able to get rid of them. Best of luck!
  4. +1 for the freeze dried or frozen foods Or when you upgrade the tank, you could use that 30g to breed guppies for him to eat. Oh, and try a floating ball. Dolphins play with floating balls, so why not a fish? I bet it would find it amusing
  5. The bit of colors on the males makes me lean towards Endlers. Interesting fish, but I prefer organs hidden away lol
  6. If it had a Batman belt I'd be ordering it right now lol
  7. Welcome to the site! Lot's of great info and people here!
  8. Some time last month I got a 35g tank with a few little things for $5 from a moving sale. Also I recently got a 10g tank with hood + light and some other things for $2. and on my way home spotted another garage sale and got a really nice wood table for $10 that looks rather nice in my fish room. Fits my new 35g too hehe I drive my husband crazy with my love for garage sales...and now he's more afraid cause whenever I see a tank my eyes light up lol Things were so much more simple when he just had to worry about me bringing home piles of books hahaha!
  9. Welcome to the site! Lot's of friendly members here
  10. http://dh-web.org/place.names/bot2sinhala This what you're looking for? http://www.agri.ruh.ac.lk/medicinalplants/medicinal_plants/families/aponogetanaceae/plants/kekatiya.html I just did a word search on the page for "water" and this is one of the plants I found. Hope that helps
  11. Did she clue in that she asked someone who can't really see to read something? or did you have to tell her? XD Glad you didn't get permanent damage! It's not fun having partial blindness...although it does give me a reason to buy an eye-patch lol Arg!
  12. It looks great! At least the pleco is having fun? Maybe it has dreams of being an interior decorator? haha My rubbernose likes to bury himself in the sand right by one of the clay pots, and my smaller Clown likes to bury itself under the cactus wood. It's funny watching them dig in the sand, but a pain when they mess with the plants lol I'm sure the plants will hide the filter in time. Mine are covered in either duckweed, moss, or a combination of both. Really gotta put my sponge filters back on...
  13. Breeding caves are a good place to start. How round are they? I think females are the more plump round ones. There's a way to check by looking at the fins too, I think. Not sure what the difference is, or if that's the case for all plecos or not. If I'm right about even one of those things I'll be happy lol Well the caves I know for sure. The rest is just info I've read, but not sure how true it is.
  14. I think some crayfish may be okay in a 5g. Mini Mexican Crayfish should be good. I've seen them in a 10g and they were doing great...partially cause they had Endler fry to hunt down, but still. They're pretty small. Not sure how many small types of crayfish there are though. I don't really have much knowledge on them since I've never kept them, aside from catching some wild ones when I was 9. As for keeping them with other inverts, I have no idea. The crayfish would likely be on the top of the food chain. I'd keep larger shrimp with them, like flowers and amanos. Apple snails should be fine. Again, I don't have first hand experience.
  15. I never thought of that! I don't suck up too much sand now that I know what I'm doing with it. In the smaller more plant crowded tanks I have to worry about sucking plants up more than the sand lol Slowing down the flow may prevent that, thanks Oh and another tip...don't leave a bag of algae wafers where your 4 year old can reach them. The light on her 3g was off cause there was too much algae growth, so I didn't notice that she had dumped a handful of the wafers in...I found out when the tank started to smell...not a fun mess to clean up. Had to dump the whole thing...her snail was dead too. On the plus side, now I'll be setting up a nicer 5g for her.
  16. Yeah, I think it was Wingin It. I knew I had read something about that : P If you succeed, I'm buying some. Loooove nerites, and baby ones would be even better
  17. I haven't tried breeding Nerites, but I do know someone who's trying, and I've read some posts of people who have succeeded. I think one person said they put the eggs (attached to something like driftwood) into a salt water tank and they hatched. At least I'm pretty sure that's what the poster said. I can't remember much right now. I've read about this awhile ago cause I wanted to breed my horned nerites. Guess I'll find out for myself when I get the time to set up a brackish tank.
  18. I love the look of that L shaped one! Look forward to seeing pictures! and did you say snow?! I hope that's not heading up here...the sky does look gloomy
  19. http://www.aquariumcentral.ca/ Address at the top left, and they have list's of all their new stock
  20. Thank you so much! I've been asking around for one, but haven't had any luck. I'll likely still be looking at the end of June, so if you still have one at that time and I don't have one...we'll figure something out. This has so made my day
  21. They look great! I hope I can find my girl a male so I can see her bright yellow colors.
  22. When I was in Aquarium Central about a week ago, they had some beautiful bettas in. They all looked really healthy, and are in filtered tanks. They have one that's all white...can't remember the name, but really pretty
  23. I'd prefer to pay $20 for a 1''. I'm also thrifty, plus baby fish are cuter and it's nice to watch them grow up
  24. At least there's plenty of places for the shrimplets to hide. I wonder how kuhli's would look swimming through all that grass...could be interesting to watch. Good to know that shorter grass will spread faster
