  1. The little BN babies are making their way out of the cave already! You can KIND of see them feeding on an algae tab in the middle of the picture. Anything I need to watch out for or make sure of at this stage in their development?
  2. I don't know what's with people complaining about the drive from Edmonton! I'm driving 8 hours round trip with 2 kids under 3.
  3. Thanks, this is what I was looking for!
  4. Hey thanks for the kind words everyone. Definitely a very exciting time in the house right now, so many breeding fish! Convicts, Jewels, Cherry Shrimp, Green Shrimp, Guppies, and now the BN's!
  5. Update of the 10g: Update on the 20g (BN breeding): The babies are hiding in the back of that cave, no way I can get a picture (and I don't dare use flash)!
  6. Good news! The 20g BN breeding operation has been a success, have a ton of BN fry now. Hopefully I can get a clear picture tonight to prove it :P
  7. Any idea if it will be larger or smaller than the ACE auction?
  8. Watching this thread with MUCH interest.
  9. Wow that`s awesome. L066 are fantastic looking plecos... And to think, I`m having trouble with BN`s!
  10. ^^^ I wouldn't go with LED's unless you can afford the really high end stuff which isn't at all cost effective compared to how cheaply you can get t5ho... And T5HO is proven to produce results.
  11. Sorry about the late response but I have had no trouble with my Salvini. I have 3 Salvini (one very large male) that live happily with Convicts, Dempseys, a Firemouth, a Green Terror. All of them are in a 150g.
  12. I have FINALLY found a non-live food my Florida Gar will eat! He tore into these smelts I picked up at Walmart the same way he does into live food. Incredibly excited.
  13. Lol, now you guys have me worried! Might have to get back to work this afternoon and cut some sheets up. Ugh, and I JUST got everything placed too!
  14. Yeah I'm thinking about doing this, the press-board seems pretty sturdy though.
  15. It doesn't feel shaky at all to be honest, of course the 10g shelf will be the lightest one but its currently solid.
  16. So we've decided to start a rack. We purchased a 4'Lx2'Wx6'H rack with a capacity of 4500 pounds from Home Depot. Top shelf will be 10 gallons, middle shelf will be 20's, and the bottom will be a 30g and a 15g. All the 10 gallons will be filtered via sponge filters and Aqueon Quitflow 10's. The 20 gallons will be a mixture of sponge filters and HOBs as well. The 30g at the bottom as well as the 15g are undecided. The tanks will hopefully be a shrimp breeding as well as a crayfish breeding operation. Additionally I'll have a couple fry tanks setup for my Jewels and also for the BN pleco breeding operation. All the tanks will be planted (some only lightly) and the 10 gallons have light provided by a 4 bulb 216w T5HO light fixture. The other tanks will be similarily done for lighting but I haven't decided what brand or exactly how I'll set it up yet. Updates to come.
  17. Yep, this is a hope depot shelving unit vs their rack system, but says it's rated for 4,000lbs overall. So thinking if I'm not even hitting 1000lbs I should be ducky...in theory Good point on the space behind the unit, need that for all sorts of plumbing & wiring Antonio I'm planning on putting 5-600 pounds PER shelf, hopefully it'll be alright. I'll let you know what happens when I fill all the 10 gallons up tomorrow!
  18. I know exactly what shelf you're using! I just bought the 48"x24" one and plan to do a 10g breeding rack with some 20 gallons sprinkled in. I'll be interested to see how your build goes.
