  1. WOW your tank is amazing, loving the aqua blog you got going on
  2. Totally agree with Jayba and Epiphany, I use Edmonton water and noticed that happening in my tank when I used nutrafin cycle and conditioner, but once I switched to Prime haven't had it since
  3. You guys are amazing going to go and try and find everything tomorrow morning, let's see if it works....*fingers crossed*
  4. I'll survive lol worst is have not gotten anymore guppies since i bought from this lady and just picked up a new pleco and a dwarf cichlid and they're in my boys tank but considering i only have 2 nets and haven't always been as diligent with vinegar washes, i probably have infected my whole system. I will beat this cause no worm is kicking my a$$ lol
  5. Called the guys at Aquarium central and talked with Warren and he diagnosed it as camallanus worms, freaking wonderful, and that was what was probably killing my guppies earlier as well, so just a warning the Sarah North from Sherwood Park is where i got it from, and when i phoned she said she lost most her fish from that tank due to mystreious deaths but couldn't possibly have that as she reguarly doses with melafix, so off to find some levamisole or some tetramisole...
  6. So was wandering by my female guppy tank and yet again saw what I thought was a dead female she was alive and doing head stands and looking very round and not 6 inches away was the algae eater and it was round bellied and in plain view which is odd as it usually only comes out at night so popped them into my quarantine tank bumped the heat up and added a lil salt and started trying to see if they had any other symptoms when i noticed on the algae eater a tiny lil thorn by his anus (can't tell on the guppy girl if it has it as well) any ideas what this is? The female guppy has died and her anus was distended and the algae eater is still alive but not moving and his is distended as well and still has that thorn like object. I only have fake plants and all my decor is intact so has to be a parasite but can't seem to find it on the net
  7. Going to hold off for now on those ones, really wanted habrosus corydoras, didn't realize there were more than one dwarf kind
  8. Always glad to be of help when I can lol I hope it works for you
  9. Could be from the heater, seen similar wounds when my guppies get greedy and peck at the heater or get stuck behind it, but i just add some melafix/pimafix to the tank to help promote healing, for carnivores i'm not really sure what else but can't hurt
  10. Anything for the guppy admirers? Looking to scale my tanks into some colors that aren't orange/red/yellow, would love to get my hands on some purples and true blues solids or snakeskin trios but with as little black on them as possible, and some dwarf corys? probably looking at 9-12 of the corys.
  11. My common pleco seems to be getting orange on the edges of his fins???

  12. They seemed to get better with the peas added but still having some mystery deaths so switching around my plecos and seeing if thats possibly an issue, had some of my males start to have issues and ended up switching the betta out hoping that is the issue, am never getting guppies off that lady again, she lost most of her stock and had the nerve to say she never had any parasites/ fungal issues but she had posted up in kijiji about mysterious deaths in her tank and was looking for fancy females, what a crock
  13. Again not knowing much about cichlids but through some chatting with a few different fish lovers, while I was buying a new german ram as my blue girl passed, it was suggested to try a gelatine containing a mixture of dried fish food, puréed shellfish, fresh fruit and vegetables to help a finicky eater get all the nutrients, cut into bite-sized bits, and instead of a single feeding, try some smaller portions 2-4 times a day, I had asked in case my little dwarf might be picky at first and this was suggested for him so maybe help with one of the bigger guys.
  14. Not knowing much about cichlids but have you thought of trying the flakes? My guppies refuse to eat the pellets which in it's self is odd cause they are usually piglets for most food, but will go nuts for the flakes same for my other fish.
  15. I love Corys , they are such characters, and lovely little charmers, bought 9 from LFS in the last few days but really want some pygmies for my female tank but all i've found have been way over priced and not healthy looking at all.
  16. Just checked planet catfish and it kind of looks like the corydoras carlae as they are the only ones with the 3 bars going down the side and the orangey color
  17. trying for a better pic but he isn't as camera loving as my guppies lol
  18. So was off to the LFS and picked some gorgeous corydorus', got 3 bronze, 1 albino and 3 paleatus or so I thought. 2 of the paleatus are a nice silvery grey bluish but the 3rd when I got him into the tank was an orangey color, is this still a paleatus or something else? Sorry about the pic but had to use phone because don't have a camera and that is his actual coloring.
  19. So started small with a 10 gallon and lost my chili endler male but went to AC and purchased Endler males ( orange and green) and some of the females and got some off a member here ( never noticed till they were by themselves the lovely bronzy/gold sheen the females have) and now currently have 2 males, 6 females and 8 fry! Only problem now is finding a spot for a bigger tank as they shortly will be overcrowded due to uncontrolled breeding LOL
  20. Had a Guppy Fry EXPLOSION this week, almost 100 babies so far!

  21. WOOT! Shout out to the Mod on a sucessful move!
