    used bio balls

I had a bunch of used ones before I just soaked them in water ad then used my shower to rinse them clean once all the crap was loosened up.
  4. Prime just neutralizes ammonia it dose not add bacteria. take it easy on the prime so you other wise you will knock down your cycle
  5. Do you remember the how much the paint cost and the coverage of one can? I calculated I need around to do around 40 sq feet per coat for the inside so I am hopping that I can do 3 coats with one can if I prime it first. Should use this pain on the out side two or can I use plain old paint?
  6. I am going to be building a plywood tank in the near future. I got the plans off of GARF but in the plans it says to use to automotive putty to fill all the holes in the plywood. Is there any reason why it would say to use that instead of using plastic wood filler? Also dose any one know where to get two part epoxy paint in Edmonton?
  7. I think that if you are very up front about the cost and what it will look like when it is done. You might also want to have an example of what a completed one will look like. I would also recommend having a contract done up by a lawyer if you plan to do lots of these so you and your customer don't get in to a possibly expensive legal argument.
  8. Locally you can go to Natures Corner. If you want to import you can try kensfish.com.
  9. I am starting to make a paludarium for a guy’s water dragons. It will be 72"x24"x24", I am doing a wood/glass design with a full glass water area around 6" deep. I am thinking of using 3/4" pine panels or 3/4" ply-wood. I am trying to decide out what I should use to finish the wood, I am thinking either using plexiglass/acrylic or marine grade paint to finish the inside of the tank. If I go with the pine boards I think it would be nice if I could use a clear stain of some kind, I am just not sure if there are any that are reptile safe and that will hold up to the humidity that is needed for water dragons (Any Ideas?). What would be my most cost effective method to finish this paludarium? I will post pictures when I am done building it, this will be the largest project that I have worked on, so I look forward to having it done.
  10. If the fish that you buy is healthy to begin with it will live for the life expectancy of the fish. I have been to some "good" stores that have gotten in crappy fish and "bad" stores that have gotten great fish. I will shop at all pet stores if I don't like what I see I won't buy it.
  11. The wal-mart in town here has decent fish if you get then the day they come in other wise they seem to die ASAP. In Lloyd I would go to the pet store beside the mall (I am not sure of the name) The only promblem is I still have not convinced any pet store around the area to carry NLS or prime. I was told by a store owner that I have some weird fish when I looking for more julies
  12. I averaged $150/month when it was cold out.. I use almost 100% CFL lights around the house and most of time there is only one room on at a time. when I had no tanks I was around $50/month.
  13. The MHs are a little bit of over kill unless you plan on planting the tank.
  14. My sev that I am thinking of bringing out is the largest one in my tank you can see it in my video of my 150.
  15. I might bring my big sev he has some nice colour.
  16. When I have a big tank in a room that is not being used as a daycare :smokey:
  17. I had a chance to try out one of the new video cameras from work today here is a video of my 150.
  18. Dose anyone know who I can contact to ask about this? I want to build the tank on Monday.
  19. That is one sweet looking pond, nice job.
  20. I have seen some pretty crafty DYI solar heaters on monster fish keepers, you can check there in the pond forum.
  21. I am thinking of entering a tank in the aquarium beautiful category since I don't have any show fish right now. I am thinking of making a tank lxhxw 24x10x12 that would make the tank according to GARF 12g but once you do the inside dimensions and tank away the fact that the top 1" or so will not have water in it it should be under 10 gallons. Now will I be aloud to enter this tank or do I have to make it smaller? I need the length since I already have a 24" light that I plan on using on the tank.
  22. I was thinking it would be nice to have an area where we can post photos and ask for help on such things as editing and better technique, that way we don't flood the photo forum fish the same photo over and over again as we try different editing on a picture.
