Resealing Aquarium

Sounds like a good idea to do the intakes and everything else in black...never really thought about that before.

Filled it tonight, and no leaks. Everything looks good to go.

I have to say, the way the lower trim on this tank is constructed, any fool could reseal it without leaking. They were made this way in order to be able to be constructed in a quick fashion. The trench in the bottom trim gets filled with silicone, and is just a little too wide for the glass (it wiggles in there). When the glass is put into the trench, the silicone slides up and around both sides of the glass, giving about 3/4 of an inch of silicone layer. This mates up with the bottom, so that any water leaking out will have to travel about that much through the silicone.

A nice idea, I thought. My father-in-law thought it was a waste of silicone, but for me, the 1/2 of a $4 tube of silicone beats water damage bills anyday.
