Vallisneria
now that I know you're 6' 5", I'll be more careful about what I say in the future.
Majestic_Aquariums
Have been considering moving the fish to a quarantine tank to treat, but not sure if this is necc. Have found them to work in the past with marine "issues" Do you think this is worthwhile? Will check out Petland, Wal-Mart ect. today. Thanks for all the advice. RD.
The stress of moving them might cause more problems. Did you test for nitrates in this tank? I woud only use medication as a last resort.

Majestic_Aquariums
Cool-thanks guys! (and gals) Will go to GCS and check it out. $10 is $10, afterall!
fatpuffer
10 dollars for more fish!
RD.
FP - is it $13 for the 16 oz bottle of pond melafix? If so, that's a might fine deal. Just don't buy the fish at GCS. :w00t:
fatpuffer
yeah its the same tall 16 oz skinny bottle of melafix pond...great deal!
Majestic_Aquariums
Sorry guys, forgot to mention that I tested for nitrates, they are at zero. Did a 25% waterchange this eve. I haven't ever bought fish @ GCS, I'm guessing you don't reccomend it?
RD.
Robert - how old is your test kit? Unless that tank has a jungle of plant growth, I can't imagine your nitrates being 0?
Majestic_Aquariums
Now that you mention it, RD., I looked again on the test kit for an exp. date, can't see one, but the test kit was bought new in late 2003. (It's an A.P. brand, I'm guessing it's the same kit Degrassi was having problems with) I will try the Hagen test kit and see. This 90 gal has 2-AC500"s running, and I've never lost a fish in 11 months...but no live plants.
Vallisneria
I would get a new test kit or atleast try testing it again with the one you already have. Your tank should have some nitrates in there.
RD.
Robert - if you still have the box, the year will be on the bottom. It's not an expiry date, but at least it gets you in the ballpark of when it was made. I believe the shelf life for AP test kits is 4 years. I've had good success with the AP test kits. As Val mentioned, you should always have 'some' nitrates showing. Edited January 12, 2005 by RD.
Majestic_Aquariums
The A.P test kit is dated 2002 on the bottom, I tested with the Hagen test kit I have as well, it is reading 0.1, as this is where the chart starts. The date (exp) of the Hagen is the end of this year, 12/31/05. I tested for ammonia as well, it is ranging between 0-0.6, depending on the light I read it in. I have always found the A.P. test kit to be more accurate in the marine tanks than the Hagen. Degrassi, wanna split the cost of that $75.00 test? Majestic_Aquariums
Well, the Silver Dollars are making a fine recovery. Thanks to everyone for lending a hand, and not one casualty. They aren't going to move again until the 230 gal is up and running...in June, Maybe?
