Finbert
I haven't seen these links anywhere else on this board, but I suspect they will be handy to a lot of people. Tanker
Other communities: not updated as often as the larger centres, but somewhat useful, none the less. http://environment.alberta.ca/apps/RegulatedDWQ/default.aspx Edited November 30, 2010 by Vallisneria
Sam Chicklets
Do they do anything different to the water that get's piped out of Edmonton?
roypark05
Do they do anything different to the water that get's piped out of Edmonton? Epcor's water plants in Edmonton supply some areas on the outskirts of Edmonton with water from the same treatment process and reservoirs. The reason I ask is that Fort Sask. seems to be having some ph issues.
gobies et al
RED DEER http://www.reddeer.ca/Connecting+with+Your...+Parameters.htm How's that for a mile long address. Seriously though, this morning my water tested at - PH 7.4 - gh 200 ppm/11.2 dH - KH 120 ppm/6.72 dH. Over the past 5 years, when I've checked, the PH has usually varied from 7.2 to 7.6, and the GH and KH as above. They do use chloramine here. Let me know and if there is a serious issue I will address it with the senior operators.

soliver
Is it common to have some ammonia in your tap water?
roypark05
Not really all the ammonia should be bound up with hypochlorite in the form of chloramines. Put it this way though: the potential for ammonia exists.
raglanroad
Not really all the ammonia should be bound up with hypochlorite in the form of chloramines.Put it this way though: the potential for ammonia exists. This is how I understand it: After sanitization treatments at many plants, there is residual or added bit of chlorine. Ammmonia is then added ( making the chloramines) in slight excess of what is needed, so there is some small amount of ammonia left over in the water when that method is used. TBL256
So new to this whole fish keeping business and read somewhere that you should find out if there are chloramines in your water supply so you can get a dechlorinator that removes them. Which brings me to my question, does anyone know if Edmonton's water has chloramines in it? Thanks! EDIT: sorry should have searched the forums, found my answer in another thread. For anyone else who is curious, yes there is chloramine in edmonton's tap water. Edited January 28, 2010 by TBL256
jvision
Which means there are few water conditioners that work here in EDM - my preference is Prime.
Jasmine07
Will the chloramine in edmonton water evaporate if it is poured into jugs and left for a few days?
Vallisneria
Will the chloramine in edmonton water evaporate if it is poured into jugs and left for a few days? No, you need to use a water conditioner that breaks the chlorine/ammonia bond and then neutralizes the ammonia. I use Prime
