rED O
Excellant job and a terrific idea using plastic decking for the lid.Where did you buy the Polyurea lining and how expensive is it? What thickness is the glass? Thanks I can't tell ya were I got it lined, because he did it for me as a favor. It cost me $250. for anyone else to do the same job it would be around $700. My glass is 3/4''
Moutain Dew
If for some act of god the bolts dont hold please post pics Tank looks good. Its a bit bright, with the blue ,but to each his own. I hope you have plans ,in the works, to hide some of the cords and heaters etc. I haven't followed the whole thread so perhaps it was mentioned somewhere in the first 8 pages. Good job. I know the sheer strength on a 1/2" bolt is incredibly high but what is the thread support weight? It seems like a lot of weight to be supported by just the threads of a bolt but it obviously does the trick. Just curious how you figured out how it would take the weight. it was ether bright blue or grey. and the bolts again, ohhh boy -roll- I forgot who the I argued with was, but he has no idea how strong the bolts are :bang1: -roll- If you like you can read this http://www.nutsandbolts.com/grade-8-bolts.html also, whoever it was ( i think RD) please do more research on grade 8 bolts I was looking for the specs on the bolts as I would like to incorperate this idea into a future project but I didn't find the specs for load bearing strength in the link . It just tells you how much better Gr 8 bolts are than normal bolts and what they are made of. I just want to see what the thread tension strength is so I know how many to add to my project stand. rED O
nice job ,what product are you going to use to seal, and line the inside of the tank? going to use? I sealed the tank back in july -roll- I used polyurea. The guy I went to changed his mind on keeping it a secret now we now polyurea works well as a lining. So if anyone is interested in knowing who sealed the tank for me, give me a pm/

JLake
Im looking at buying a house in the sherwood park area as we are currently renting. As soon as we buy a house, we just may have to discuss this possibility. My next step is back to monsterfish. But I wont untill i get a suitable home for them. Your tank would be a example of a suitable home.

pengu
"I love my monster tank, but there are a few disadvantages of owning a large tank." If you don't mind me asking what did you mean by "disadvantages" to a large tank? like not moving it to easy? the large water changes? the evaporation? the cost? or is it just a all of the above. if you had to do it over would you and would you do anything different.
