jamesbarr
hey all, so I am wondering someone could give me a breakdown on what I have to do to get my plecos to mate. I dont know for sure how to sex them but Im thinking that I have 2 males and a female based on sized difference. I think that the female is the bigger and the males the smaller. Maybe Im wrong. Any help would be nice. Thanks
DragonNeko
Breeding caves are a good place to start. How round are they? I think females are the more plump round ones. There's a way to check by looking at the fins too, I think. Not sure what the difference is, or if that's the case for all plecos or not. If I'm right about even one of those things I'll be happy lol Well the caves I know for sure. The rest is just info I've read, but not sure how true it is. jvision
Post some pics of your plecos. Common names can be confusing and HiFin Albino could mean any number of species. If they're a type of common pleco, you have your work cut out for you; if you're referring a LongFin Bristlenose, then the sexing mature fish is quite easy - males have bristles up their face, while the female will just have a few around her nose, or non at all.
