Vapor
Neon tetras are my favorite. A nice school of those really show off well.
Guest New to fish
I guess I should have been more specific. Please tell me any good peaceful tetras and their prefered environment if you can. Thank You.
Vallisneria
I'd say stick with the smaller slim bodied species of tetra like neon, rummy nose, glowlights etc. If tetras are going to be the only fish i'd add 8-10. I'd add a bunch of plants and maybe some shrimp for bottom/algae eaters.

secretlaw
Yes, shrimps. I have about seven Cherry shrimps and they live peacefully with Tetras.
Vallisneria
There are a few species of shrimp that do well in a freshwater tanks. Amano shrimps are an easy to find one that is a great algae eater. Ghost shrimps are dirt cheap and do a pretty good job of clenaing the bottom(but aren't really algae eaters). There are also the more "fancy" vaieties of shrimp like cherry shrimps and bumble bee shrimps. Or another group of shrimps are the flower/bamboo/feather shrimp. They are filter feeders and a bit harder to keep.
HOSStile
Neons and cardinals are great, the only thing to watch out for is that a 10 gallon tank can go sour, water quality wise very quickly and neons and cardinals cannot tolerate poor water. May I recommend initially, white clouds, or zebra danios, they can be used to cycle your tank in small quantity and are inexpensive and pretty good looking IMO. Later you can add tetras when you have a handle on what you are doing.
DAlberta
The thing to remember is some tetras get bigger than others. Be sure to stick to tetras which will be about the same size once they finish growing We have a 42 gallon "tetra tank" with neons, rummynose, head and tail light , glowlight, and lemons finished off with a few kuhli loaches. All get along well! Perhaps when you decide to upgrade to a larger tank you may be interested in raising angelfish! Toirtis
I would consider seriously planting it up with a bunch of live plants to start. Then fishless cycling, and once that is done going with a small (as in 5) school of a small, colourful tetra like cardinals or neons (or a few gold white clouds, or some endlers livebearers), a small (3-5) school of pygmy Corydoras, and 4-6 cherry shrimp.....that would make for a very attractive, active tank. Guest New to fish
could I fit all that in a ten gallon, :eh: and if I could how do i take care of live plants? I only have fake ones.
Toirtis
Live plants, good filtration, and frequent partial water changes will make keeping 'all that' in a 10 quite alright. For live plants, you need to mostly consider lighting to start. What sort of lighting does your tank currently have?
