Vapor
With all the talk on here lately about substrate I couldn't resist the urge to try it. I bought a bag of Target Playsand at Home Depot ( 5 bucks for 55 pounds ). Thought I would do the ten gallon first and the differance it made in that tank is amazing. I can't wait to do my other tanks now. Now I know why so many people on here use it.

Vapor
How much sand would it take to put in a 33? Rough guessing, after my ten and twenty seven are both done I will still have a little left. One bag would do you fine.
