Toirtis
Got this guy in at the store....he was sold to us as a N. venustus, but does not look like any I have seen...Wayne thought he might be a N. livingstoni, but that doesn't fit either. He is about 5½" long:

FishGeek
Looks totally like a Livingstoni to me, definatly not polystigma or venustus
Qattarra
http://www.malawicichlidhomepage.com/haps/...ivinsgtoni.html is it this guy?
lukeS
Definitely N. livingstonii. The dark bars making an X pattern through the eye are a diagnostic feature of this species.
Trooper
He's got some nice coloring for 5 1/2 inches.
Toirtis
Livingstoni? Even with the blue (much more intense than the photo shows) only on the face, and the bright orange (it is really very orange) fin edges? I have found photos somewhat similar, but none that are quite close, which makes me wonder. ...or could he be a hybrid?
RD.
Nimbochromis livingstonii color can vary somewhat due to age & sexual maturity. (more blue when in breeding dress) At 5 1/2" he's still just a youngster, and he looks right as rain to me.
Malawi Maniac
Agreed, N. livingstoni. Stacey
FishGeek
I've seen some Livingstoni with alot more blue, It's surprising how nice they get when you look at the young. He should develop more blue as he ages
dunl
Christian, you made a good call on this one. Livingstonii x venustus hyrbids are VERY common. However.....from the picture he looks good to me. Like mentioned, the juvies do vary quite a bit in looks when developing. Could be something in person that we are missing from the photos, but unless there is something else that stands out, I'd say he's a good catch.
