  1. That pic makes me want to cry. Oscars are such great fish. I was breifly considering two for a 55g, but was worried it might be too small.
  2. Freaky! I like them. When thye grow up will you be needing homes for them? Can they live in a community tank?
  3. I like tons of baby snails in my tank. I reach in and crush them up against the glass as a snack for the fish, they love it! I am not so sure why people are so upset about snail babies. I think they are cute and easy to get rid of.
  4. There is a transparent jelly-like substance in a worm-like shape in my tank. It is located on the bottom of my java fern leaf. Is this some critter's eggs? It did not look like eggs. It is attached pretty firmly to the bottom of the leaf. The plant is a little tiny one that is free floating in my tank right now. Should I be worried? The tank contains: Cherry Shrimp Swordtail & platy fry Ramshorn snails (very small ones) Assorted other snails that I do not know what they are
  5. So glad to hear you have some new fishies. They are very pretty.
  6. Mantis shrimp are so pretty, but I am also kinda scared of them. I would not be holding something with the nickname "thumb splitter" in my hand.

Welcome! Glad you decided to let us know who you are!
  8. Flounder also taste great. I used to catch them back home in NS in the Avon river. A little bigger than yours though. -roll-
  9. New babies are always a joy. Glad there is so much "love" in your house!
  10. A flat black background is really nice.
  11. Those lovely pictures have me thinking I need to talk husband into a saltwater nano.
  12. Never! I moved the girls back into the big tank. They seem happier and do spend most of their time running away from the male. I just hope they drop those fry on the java moss provided and I can catch a few and put them in the fry tank.
  13. Sigh. I thought so. I was trying to keep the girls separate because they are lovely pineapple swordtails. I got them at the auction. I want to keep as many of those gorgeous fry as I can. They were looking a bit more active at feeding time today. Aw nutz........ they aren't going to drop those fry if they are stressed are they? I am tempted to squeeze them and see if fry shoot out. (I am very much kidding on that.)
  14. I moved my two new female pineapple swordtails into my 5g betta tank. It has been a whole day and they are sill hiding under the big clump of java moss and looking morose. They are very large for swordtails could it be that a 5g is too small for them? It is hexagonal and I am not sure of the dimensions. The water is the same as the tank they were in and I put a established filter on the tank before moving them.
  15. That's fantastic. I love the idea of the little rams taking on the discus to protect their eggs! Congratulations!
  16. Babies are so exciting! Congratulations!
  17. Mine are all jammed into my 29g. It did not seem like a lot at the auction, but when they all went in there it filled my tank! I think I need better lighting and some way of explaining the cost of the new lighting to Hubby.
  18. My old betta used to bite my fingers whenever I put them in the tank. It was really funny because he looked like he was trying to be so fierce. It tickled a little.
  19. That is one stunning lion. The bird wrasse is cool too. I have never seen one before.
  20. Oh so pretty. I love the Azurus.
  21. Yes. They have to work on the bubble nest all the time. The film would be the spit that was left over after the bubbles popped. They use a special chemical in their spit to make the bubbles stronger. He will probably go back to it. I had a betta that liked to build is nest right in the strong current from the filter. It was often gone within hours, then he would just go back and build it in the same place. Perhaps the feng shui was correct only in the one spot.
