Try information about velvet

If you are able to get a large enough plastic background to cover, just cover the background with Vaseline and stick the background on the glass. The Vaseline will hold it to the tank and will not allow the glass to get water stained. If you want to tape the edge it will stop the background from getting loose over the years. There is another advantage in that the background never goes dull but stays brilliant.

Hey Qattarra You have listed many good ideas. You must have had lots of experience in this area. One small point is to not overcrowd your aquariums. Power failure or not, less problems of all kinds occur with a tank that is not crowded. Terry

The oxygen in the water is not absorbed from the air bubbles dispersed from an air stone but it is picked up from the surface water coming into contact with the air above the water. If the top of the water has a scum on it the water surface does not get broken up or if the air above the tank does not get circulated there will be a lack of oxygen available to be absorbed into the aquarium water. The other consideration is that the higher the temperature in the aquarium the lower the amount of oxygen so if you are operating a high temperature aquarium it is much more important to watch the oxygen absorption. I am Terry Little and currently hold the position of CAOAC Open Show Committee Chair and the 48th CAOAC Convention Show Chair. I'm sure that in past years there may have been some talk about the holding of CAOAC Conventions outside Ontario but we have had discussions during the past months with the Executive and with input from Ken Ealey. We have been unable to find any motion that might have changed the policy of this topic and the total Executive have no recollection of this discussion. CAOAC would be very happy to have a Convention in the west at some time and there was a comment from Edmonton that there was not enough time for this year but I got the impression there may be some future consideration and if some group wanted to come to the Convention 2007 in London Ontario and bid on hosting the 2008 Convention out west we would be pleased to entertain that bid. On a personal note I attended the last Conventions held in Edmonton and Regina. I was not able to attend the one in Calgary. The two I did attend were in my opinion among the best in the 47 year history of CAOAC. COME AND JOIN US IN LONDON AND LET US FORGET ALL THE THINGS THAT PULL US APART AND TRY TO FIND SOME THINGS THAT WILL HELP TO PULL US TOGETHER.
