  1. sounds like you may have it under control. let us know how it works out.
  2. Those gloves look pretty good at lee valley, but the Coralife ones cost me $25 last night. I wasn't going to buy them but the price was good. I lucked out tho when getting them. I went to bow valley and they are in the middle of a move and the woman took a look for me and we found them sooooo I had to buy them. I figure I will only use them for rock and changing things around in the tank, not for hadling most coral as again I dont want to hurt them with the lack of sensitivity. How sensitive are the ones from home depot or lee valley?
  3. I found that the cichlids were attacking the butterfly fish so I moved mine into the Frontosa tank (keep opinions to yourself ) and it seems to be working out great
  4. I just picked up a pair of those full arm Coralife Aqua gloves and was wondering if anyone else uses them? I was getting pretty sick of pulling my hand out of the water with the latex glove on and having it full of water. It kind of defeated the purpose. I used them the moment I got home as I am trying to take this 33G down that I have and fill the 90 with LR so I can decide if I really need to buy base rock. If you haven't used them, they seem to work pretty good as they go to my armpit and keep me completely dry. The glove is of a thicker material and allows me to grab any rock/coral without worrying about recent cuts on my hand. If you HAVE used them I am curious on your thoughts. The only downfall I have found is the lack of feeling when I use them. So I just make sure that I dont crush anything.
  5. I have mixed fry before in similar conditions, but I also recommend rock/plant cover.
  6. What are the tank inhabitants? Salt and heat should work if it is ich. but if not I am curious as to the occupants to help decide if the ich med is ok.
  7. Nice catch Christian!! Thats a beauti
  8. Things are starting to get back to normal in the house so I shouldn't be missing any more meetings. I do plan on adding more rock but have to take down this small tank first. Thanks for the compliments!
  9. It is a 90G are you sure you dont mean 12.5Kg thanks for the compliments I haven't been on really lately and thought now that I am getting a chance to post I will update my progress some. Here are a couple recent full tank shots. Currently in the tank I have Mushrooms: Pimple, Bullseye, Melon, and Hairy Red/Green Blasto Colt Coral Frogspawn Hammer Coral Yellow polyps Orange zoos 3 x different shades of green zoos Finger leather tiny pulsing xenia (growing back after being eaten) Candycane coral GSP Blue sponge and a few that I am ashamed to say I cant remember the name Yellow tang Clown foxface 2 x peppermint shrimp emerald crab 5 x hermit crabs BTA Orange BTA?
  10. I am curious too...how does it look now? As to earlier possts, I have to agree that there is more than one way to skin a cat/keep fish. whats good for the goose isn't always good for the gander. but when someone asks for help, people like to help. most of the way people people help is by telling others what they do or have done that worked. if you dont like the answer simply say thanks and move on to the next one. You mentioned that you had kept discus before and doing the same as in the past. Maybe things have changed, ie. water quality from the treatment plant along with many other things. These people offer you the suggestions that worked best for them, not meaning you are doing it all wrong but a "heres what I do, you should try it and see" I think if you knew Kevin you wouldn't take what he says as an insult. I can see why you did but you just have to get to know the guy first. I do have to say that if you dont like what people are suggesting for help then dont ask for it as you will always get the "this is what I do, or has worked for me answer" If you are having problems you will never get the "dont change a thing answer", because if you dont change a thing you might be unlucky to lose everything. People give suggestions not must do's as long as everyone understands that they will be fine. You mentioned that changing more water is overkill...is it? You didnt mention water quality untill it was mentioned about high nitrates/phosphates may be the cause. You need to understand that people dont know how experience you are and will usually try to help with the easy/first thing to do answer. I work on a help line for computer ID 10 T's and you always have to start with the simple answer just incase it was looked over Anyhow Good luck.
  11. Thanks guys...I have been away for a bit, it is great to come back and see that these things are being noticed and taken care of.
  12. Yeah they should do. I have been buying cheap plants at the CAS meeting mini auctions and feeding that to mine.
  13. IME I have found that the ones that hangout at the serface are either looking for food/ laying eggs, or are getting ready to die. I am down to 1 now the 2 that I lost floated for weeks without coming out before passing on. Do you have lots of green for them to eat?
