  1. What would you rate as a serious injury? A broken bone?
  2. Some fish are very sensitive (as in can kill them) to galvanized metal. I don't know about coatings but i would at least line it with something.
  3. Very rare. I've never seen any in Alberta for sale.
  4. Great  So I'm guessing that you're coming dressed as the wicked witch of the south? At least you won't have to spend a lot of money on make-up
  5. Great  So I'm guessing that you're coming dressed as the wicked witch of the south?
  6. It sounds like your pair are not reading the same information that you are
  7. I've never run mine on powerheads and they work fine with air. One thing to be aware of is there is such a thing as too much water flow. The bacteria in the filter need contact time with the waste products like ammonia to process them, and too rapid a flow can hinder the efficiency of the bacteria colony.
  8. Of the three, they are the most regularly available retail.
  9. I would seriously consider a mattenfilter. They do an excellent job and also provide small live foods for the fry.
  10. At peril of repeating myself, why do you torture us so?
  11. Word of warning - IME cheap is a dangerous word when used to describe aquarium heaters. There is a tendency to get what you pay for when it comes to heaters, and it's usually the fish who really pay for cheap.
  12. You definitely can feed them every other day, if not less. Once a week would be fine. This will benefit the system as well as the fish.
  13. There was some S. lucipinnis in the auction, they were labeled as petricola.
  14. Probably going to have to grow them before proper ID can be made.
  15. The Aquarium Club of Edmonton's next auction is April 6
  16. Stephan's website swisstropicals has a lot of info and pics of possible uses of the mattenfilter. It's worth checking out.
  17. What do you mean DRIVING you nuts?
  18. That might be true but Jerrys not my type
  19. Doesn't your water get yellow with high ammonia readings? :hey:
  20. The one summer that I kept a small pond I kept Scleromystax (Corydoras) barbatus, Odessa barbs, and swordtails. They fared well except that the swordtails had a tendency to jump, lessening their numbers over time. I checked the temperatures over the summer and they flucuated between 59 and 83 degrees. The only effect that the flucuations had was that when it was cooler their activity decreased notably.
