  1. I used to breed apisto triple red in a community...mom will defend but eventually loses the battle as others get to the fry. I would siphon them out after lights out and put in small tank.
  2. I have a small senegal bichir. 3-4 inches. Maybe we can trade or something. Js
  3. Nice mbus and FRT! I hope the mbu plays nice. Glad you were able to house 'em!

    Hi

75 gallon with tinfoil will be overstocked once those tinfoil grow out a bit. I would leave it alone...especially not adding oscars as they probably need the 75 on their own. Get rid of the tinfoil and add some bigger tetras instead and keep the parrot fish. Js
  5. I would not mix them until the ebjd is at least 3 inches. I know guzookeeper keep them together with severum (I think)...but the ebjd is full grown.
  6. Well...they are free swimming and eating powdered pellets and frozen BBS. looking good so far. Jonah
  7. That is one thing I did not have in my tank...amanos and nerites. I had puffers so invert tankmates was out. That is definately worth a shot if you do not have aggresive fish that would hunt the invert. Jonah
  8. it my experience, the driftwood tend to breakdown faster in the brackish condition. It just made my tank look murky. One I've taken it out...everything went back to normal. Js
  9. Separated some wigglers from parents. I will see if I can raise them in a smaller tank. I will probably feed with powdered NLS and BBS (when they are bigger). I heard that it will be tough to grow them out. Unfortunately, I will be gone for about 3 weeks in December. It will be survival of the fittest at that point. Jonah
  10. Another quick update before bed: WIGGLERS!!! Thought I'd turn off the lights and peak with flashlight and to my surprise...li'l ball with tails wiggling among the "fungused" eggs. At least I know some may make it into fry stage. Jonah
  11. Update: few fungused eggs noticed. We'll see what happens. keeping fingers crossed.
  12. Thanks BlueCan. Day 2 and no noticeable fungus. I think it is good for now. Will get a 10 gallon ready...just in case. Js
  13. Why would you want to breed ebjd with them? is it for the colour? I don't think the colour would transfer as it is a recessive trait. Basically it would be just like breeding a regular JD with those fish until you get the blue gene carriers. Don't really know much about it. Jonah
  14. Thanks folks. Yes this is my BGJD. I am breeding the daughter back to the father. I know what y'all going to say...but the research and articles RD forwarded to me was enough for me to go for it. Jonah
  15. Sorry. EBJD are Electric Blue Jack Dempseys. I have been trying to breed electric blues but finally they actually lay eggs. If successful...50 percent with be Electric Blue and the other 50 percent blue gene carriers. Js
  16. Been a while since I had a fish lay eggs. Finally...my EBJD and BGJD laid eggs this evening. With some luck...I can raise a few EBJDs. Jonah
  17. Good job Irene! Save me one! BTW the EBJD and BGJD is starting to dance and change colour. All other BG's are getting bullied out...so I will have to take them out soon. Still have some spare fry tank...haha. Js

    Hello again.

    Hey Darcy! Welcome back!
  19. The EBJD X EBJD is never produce any viable fry. It is the nature of the mutation. Nothing to do with the care of the fry as many other "mass" breeder also experience the same mortality rate with the ebjd x ebjd. Js
  20. Thanks folks. EBJD x EBJD will produce fry but the mortality right now is 100 percent. Not sure what is causing the death of the fry. Js
  21. I've noticed that my ebjd and bgjd are dancing in the tank. I think it is a female bgjd but not 100%. BGJD seems to have more spangles. I cannot find my camera so I used the blackberry. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics. Female BGJD EBJD and BGJD dancing Js
  22. My parrot is similar to yours dark orange but not red. Js
  23. Also GSP will require HIGH brac or marine when adult. Js
