  1. Its not really that simular to Mexican bowl rock. Elite Aquatics has had it in the past, Big Als in Edmonton had smaller peaces a few months ago. Good luck in your search.
  2. Just a big up to you and Kyle as breaders on giving a flying S@#$. Anyone can stop by my place to see the quality you both have. Still cant find the F explination on this board but I will start on the others sites.
  3. ok... I believe it is the fry are bumped to the next F from the highest numbered parent. WC + F5 = F6 not F3 or F4 It is sill one more generation in a tank, and to my mind even if a parent fish is WC it shouldn't be a way to decrease the F. It seems like cheating. Besides F's it is important to consider the fish itself regardless of WC or F100 to how it holds up to the species as a whole. A WC mutant is just as bad as a Fish farm mutant. I know that was a little off topic. I still cant find the F thread either, but Im looking.
  4. WC is wild caught from nature or F0 if you like F1 is first gen born in captivity F2 is are fish from F1 parents F3 have F2 parents etc. At a point it really doesn't matter. After F2 I think its kind of pointless to say. The closer to wild is usually the better b/c they are more natural specimens. Most store fish are F9000. Kidding, but not really. I dont know where the origingal post is though, if you looked in the general area try cichlid.
  5. Sounds like bloat, usually by that point its to late. they have damaged internal organs. I have read water changes and small amounts of epsom salts can help.
  6. I would say its fine, I have used those too. Im sure it is a CSA thing. There are legal definitions for water proof and water resistant, and Im sure that plays a part in the line thing too.
  7. I think I'll be doing something like you suggest
  8. rona has them in the tile area they aren't that expensive or just return them after
  9. I was thinking of keeping it basicly on the ground with height just enought height to get at the plumbing. I was thinking I could fraim it like a house as I was not thinking of any "windows" look down only. here is my blu print kinda, will this hold with 3/4 in ply?
  10. A while back someone mentioned painting the glass on a tank and I am wondering now what kind of paint sticks to glass? I want to paint the back black, as I am annoyed with the plastic background stuff.
  11. that is a cool shot, Ive never had the chance to see my fish mommies let their babies in and out
  12. Shaw Secure sucks. That may be a simple answer.
  13. think Ill have to pick it up at Costco
  14. BGK is electric & so perhaps saves it some molestation
  15. I believe Ausies can take the heat too. Its not cool in N. Aust. That said not ideal perhaps I've read contradictory stuff and not enough to say whats best.
  16. Eheim Can the Germans ever go wrong? No! Except for philosophy.... but thats neither here not there.
  17. Previously I have used gravel type substrates, but I then got African cichlids and figured sand was better. Since then I have been plagued by poop! I'm sure I'm not over feeding (to much at least) and have enough filtration (90g w/ Ehime 2028 and Rena XP4). I have tried adding a HOB but I still get poop! The 2nd tank below with maybe 30 fish total, is the biggest problem. Is this common with sand, that poop just sits on the bottom, and then get stirred up once in a while? I'm sure with gravel its still there but just hidden, but I could go for hidden right now. NB - I also am not talking about brown poop soup water, its clear just poop at the bottom.
  18. I believe this is vbulletin site and I am setting one up for a friend. I was wondering how you get the linked banner and all of that. I dont get it. I hate coding. If you can help me out that would be great!!! you can just email me. Thanks
  19. Wouldn't that be great! When I tryed keeping them they always died at that size so I could keep lots. Hahhaha. Oh thats wrong isn't it?
  20. Ikea has a great set of LEDs that lets you control the colour blue purple green red maybe. They say 7 colours. And in store its only $59. Is there anything Ikea cant do. Other then keep helpful employees. oh maybe the coloured ones are $79, white only is $59.
  21. That would be impressive I think, but i think im off the idea of a male only tank for right now. I've heard they are hard to get the balance right (although you gave me a good idea) but even if you do you still get blow ups every once in a while. But I'll keep it in the back of my mind.
  22. I think it would be only for you, I mean just aesthetic. I know plants use very little of the spectrum we see as green, I don't think red is all that important either. If its just aesthetics you are going for the sunrise and sets usually have reds, oranges, and pinks. It may look cool. But If you just want your plants to grow better I wouldn't bother I think it will all cost a lot and not help one bit, and I would put the money towards more daylight bulbs or VHO and CO2 if you don't have that yet.
  23. I'd be interested in making one too. Especialy if we could so a cool instal for a downstairs office.
  24. very nice, looks like they were worth the wait
