  1. You'd think room temp would be 15-20 F above what they are used to...would some damp towels hanging on the glass on several sides with a fan help to drop your tank temp even a couple of degrees until you get your cooler?
  2. :welcome: Hope you have room for more tanks lol...cause we'll bet you'll need it soon!
  3. My female Golden Saum/Green Terror is at least equal to the male in colouring and finage...just about 1/3 the size...which is a good thing. Hopefully the females would not go into spawning behaviour...if so then her aggression would not help a community tank, all female or not. An interesting concept, I'm curious to see your results.
  4. seaching "Bristlenose" on the forum yeilds mostly listings for Albino BN for sale, anywhere from 1" for $3 - $6 or 4" for betwen $20 - 25... All I could find using the search feature.
  5. If I might suggest, full edit your post, adding the model number of your filter in your title and then a reply with how you managed to fix your trouble...that will let a future user with the same problem search for and find your solution. Glad you found your solution!
  6. :welcome: You'll find lots of very knowledgeable and helpful people in this forum! I know I have! Enjoy...and if I may offer a word of advice, what ever size tank you decide to move up to...go at least one or two sizes higher...you'll be glad you did lol.
  7. You might consider moving him to your main tank into one of those floating/hanging breeder nets or breeder plastic units...they work well to keep them out of harms way...you might want to use a plastic model since some fish try to suck the fry through the netting...as I learned the hard way recently. Your fry would grow up in the same tank it will be released in, with filtration and heat, just a thought. Good luck with the little gaffer!

    hello

    :welcome: :welcome:
  9. You could email an LFS to see if they have the part. (Picies in Calgary has a large part selection and will order in darn near everything, I think Gold's has that rep too, don't have info about the others in Calgary). Alternatively there may be on-line sources but you'll need the part number. Check for the part number in your manual or go on-line and check a downloadable manual to get the info...will get you a reply much quicker.
  10. I've seen Fairdeal's tanks, immaculate, and he swears by Maylasian Trumpet Snails...I have some in 1 tank...apparently they hide when it's light out and eat everything, including poop at night. Note - I have seen other posts in this and other forums that they hate those snails cause they get into everything...up to you.
  11. For those that have never kept these... when I was removing some fry from the tank the female literally hurled herself at the net - striking and attacking the metal frame for all she was worth...I was glad it was not my finger in there lol. April 27 - I saw the female was attacking the remaining fry and decided to move a couple of rocks to get them out...bad idea...disturbed the female too much I guess...this morning all eggs are gone...both Mom and Dad not too hungry today...wonder why....ooops.
  12. What model are you running? You can find the downloadable manuals for their products with some trouble shooting tips in each at: http://www.eheim.de/eheim/inhalte/index.js...mp;list=afilter (I run the Pro 2224 and Pro II 2026's at the moment.)

  16. Nandopsis - I bought an almost new Eheim Pro 2224 tonight, after I connect the pipes correctly (previous owner couldn't get it to work right...had the intake and outlet mixed up it seems - the owner just wanted it gone since he'd sold all his tanks and fish, neither of us knew the hoses were put togther wrong until I found the manual on-line a few minutes ago....arrrrg.... suddenly, a miracle, your method worked flawlessly... Thank you all for your posting of this problem, it sure solved mine! Hal
  17. Here's a brand new front page article on the Cichlid Forum site. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/driftwood.php

    Hi Guys

:welcome: :welcome: You'll find a lot of well informed people here... I have! My own Golden Saums (many here say they too are a form of GT) are shown on the Breeding portion of the forum, if you'll need a cross-breeding opportunity down the road.
  23. Interesting, everything I was able to find before said to leave them with Mom for at least 5 weeks or so otherwise she could get chased/worried to death...not being able to spawn before was the listed reason...I'll take a couple of dozen out just in case. Not planning to use these as feeders...too nice looking, will offer here and then to LFS when ready in a few weeks.
