  1. I wasn't able to make it but was hoping to find a stand for a 33-ish... from the sounds of it, would I have even found one? LOL
  2. sheesh, ya make it sound like spandy andy is the side act... that would be kinda cool...
  3. oh, and they are definately particular to propellers... I found that the best way to keep them out of your filters, etc was to cap off any intake valves with sponges as they like to play in the water flow and then WOOSH! up the intake and its not a pretty place to be... but strangely, about a 75% survival rate from getting spun in there... but they swim funny for a bit LOL kuhlis are especially naughty that way...
  4. http://www.umbra.com/ustore/product/460410-660.store I just had to share this Tank I found... and they actaully sell them at a few stores in Edmonton... and they are STACKABLE!!!
  5. I just received a tank from a friend (30+ G) all i need is a stand and I would be happy to help... I am in st.ALbert though, is that an Issue, and the tank is currently dry until I get a stand so give me a bit LOL any spare stands kicking around anyone? I have everything else.
  6. The only thing I found with bettas as community fish (and I have had males in community tanks too, they did quite well with tetras and whatnot) is the tanks cannot be too large or sparsely decorated/planted. They get hyper stressed and will go into shock. remember, natural habitat is akin to a puddle so too big a spaxce is agorophobia. 33 gallons max seemed to be the limit. anything larger and i had betta shutdown. i never had more than 1 male/3 females in a tank though so no clue on a 20 girlie tank... if ya do, i so wanna see pics!
  7. *sigh* You gave him a good resting place to end at and a wonderful life for 12 years. What a Fin-tastic Friend you were to him
  8. well its not unexpected... the angel and the mollie both bit it... given that i thought it was on SAE because of its colour at first glance (he browned up nicely and is quite happy, the little otto) they were too stressed... but they were NOT FLUSHED! :welcome: to fishy heaven gently... well... ish... poor things... i wonder how long they had been in that busted rubbermaid container... :chair:
  9. so a tenant comes downstairs today, asking to borrow a pen and paper. i say sure, what for. he says he has a fish tank and stand that he wants to get sell, tonight, before he leaves on a plane and as soon as he writes the note he is going to go upstairs and flush the fish and finish packing... needless to say i now have my first fishtank in 4 years, complete with clownpuke and plastic plants (although i took off the shiny wrapping paper background he had taped to the back) and i hope the sweet angelfish, oto and mollie do not die tonight given they had 6 inches of water in a rubbermaid container, a crashed tank and were about to be given a acidpiss swirlie... (the old flusharoo)... as i see it though, better they might pass in my house being wanted but i ~REALLY~ hope they dont... they look good so far. cross your fingers folks!
  10. :& sorry, everyone else who sees that comment is thinking the same thing... :hey:
  11. Facebook now offers a live chat option with the groups pages, i have one running with a page that a group of my old pr'ing friends had.. its a typical streaming chat and its totally through FB. so, you would require facebook to be open though but its the same thing. thats an option
  12. Is there any such thing as a dwarf bichir? im am just getting back into the hobby and bichirs are ... sorry girlie moment... CUTE! but the first tank I am getting is a 33... and from what i can find they get pretty big pretty fast. but i see them in LFS in average tanks. what are their growth rates? i am just happy my hub is allowing tanks in the house again LOL and i want to try something out of the box... mind you... i will have another loach colony soon enough and MAYBE take to breeding corys again...
  13. OOooooo geckos! My daughter wants a leopard gecko (shes 15) but i get to set up my tanks in our new house first  see how our cats deal with those before we introduce a scurrying friend. welcome to our world!
  14. did you ever get it? that would be so... man, i would so tempted to leash train it... for the 30 seconds it would be polite. just to creep out my neighbours LMAO :smokey:
  15. Im hoping to do similar, but a table top model. I am trying to convince my boss to budget me monies for a Chi or something but I may be out of luck LOL I wish I had room in the front office for 20-55 gallons... I think the largest Im allowed to do is a 10, hence table top. dont forget to send us pix! GL
