  1. Welcome to the forum, and nice looking tank and betta... The parrot fish looks a bit dry though.....
  2. HAHA... and so it begins... too bad I think those tanks are at the Big Als Edmonton... not the Calgary one!
  3. Wow that is one big fish! Very nice!
  4. I believe he said HM (hemianthus micranthemoides) not HC.
  5. hmm... I have 2 already myself... but that is a really good price....
  6. going to guess you figured out what the problem was based on thread with the pics of your tank ....
  7. Welcome to the forum! Watch out for MTS (Multiple tank syndrome)... it will sneak up on you when you least expect it...
  8. Barnacle blenny are awesome... had 3 of them in my SW Edge before they all died off. Love watching their eyes moving in opposite directions all the time. Feeding time was also pretty neat when they darted out to catch stuff.
  9. Darn... and I was driving past there today too!
  10. After the algae and deaths it kinda took the wind out of the sails for me on this tank. I might have to start it up again in a bit though.
  11. Looks good! Didnt realize you had a sump attached to it like I do to mine.
  12. bits of both actually. think i also had dino flagellates as the 3 fish died within a space of a couple weeks. not positive though. did blackouts on the tank and tried peroxide as well. algae is gone for the most part but since i lost the fish i have left the tank running empty with nothing except the snails left. been planning on trying to get it back and running again soon though.

    Hello!

Hi Tan, Welcome to the forum! Great to see more planted tanks and look forward to seeing pics on how your tank is turning out!
  14. welcome to the forum! Think lots of people on here like planted tanks and would welcome progress pics!
  15. All I use is fluorite black.. both the gravel and the sand. I like the sand since I dont have to vacuum it as much to keep it looking decent and its easier for me to plant stuff in and I do seem to have some success. I think I remember hearing that the fluval substrate eventually breaks down especially if you are constantly going to be disturbing it planting and replanting.
  16. Thanks for posting! Those are some good looking prices if I am reading them right. Time to do some research!
  17. pretty cool.. would guess it was just a small fry when it originally got caught in the boat so it probably didnt need too much to survive on and adapted to life in solitude. Kinda wondering what other kinds of stuff was growing in the boat by the end of the trip.
  18. Hi and welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have lots of options for filter media. I hear Chaeto in a sump is good for sucking up extra phosphates if that is a viable option for you. Is it possible you are overfeeding? I have only dabbled a little in the salt water so you might want to try the experts over at the Canreef forums. @Ajanzen.. sounds like the poster has a saltwater tank... SAE would definitely not work in that tank! lol
  19. industrial plastics and paints would probably be able to make ya something.
  20. Wow! that is some great service!
  21. Welcome! I think the experimentation and tweaking aspect of this hobby keeps many of us hooked so you arent alone there!
