  1. The jarshow next month will be Plants, since plants are green and we'll be close to St. Patty`s.
  2. Mine started spawning after a year, and i don't mean to nitpick, but they are called corydoras sterbai. The fry are uber sensitive and I can't seem to raise any past the first month.
  3. Since I don't have a phd in fish health, I don't medicate. I wouldn't medicate my dog, cat or child willy nilly, so why subject fish to unnecessary stress? Best thing would be to run your carbon to remove the meds and stick to regular w/c. And keep reading. Simplydiscus.com might have the answer your looking for
  4. what are the specs for this wonderful tank, if you don't mind me asking?

    Super Dad

I also have a mail albino reg fin who regularly spawns. He has three females of various sizes in with him, and just on monday I saw my longfin albino female go in. The male has been watching eggs or fry non-stop for the last six months and I was starting to get worried he might get tired. Last night he did the sensible thing and kicked out the eggs, which I collected and put in a hatching tank. Best part is, this morning I can see the fry in there. I took pics of the adult tank and the eggs with fry showing, Ill post them later tonight.
  6. Geophagus Altifrons - wild caught - Harold's Stock
  7. a hydrometer will tell you specific gravity and can be picked up for $30 or less. Now you just have to figure what specific gravity shrimp prefer. My bet would probably be around 1.025. This is how you test salt content in water at its simplest.
  8. Exactly! Not much of a show if no one participates
  9. The February jar show will be on dwarf cichlids! As I'm sure many of you keep cichlids, there should once again be a great turn out!
  10. Thank you very much ladies for participating, the show wouldn't have been much of a show without you!
  11. First Coral is a fancy colt coral, I've never seen one quit like it so I bought it. The red and white goby is a Wheelers's Goby. he is actually paired up with a tiger pistol shrimp. That is a juvenile WC altifrons from harold Those aren't rainbows, they are killifish. Thanks for looking folks!

  18. the eyes were pretty small, so you may be onto something.... yes... i said eyes.
  19. There will be a different category every meeting except the december meeting. I thought we would start with betta's since a lot of people keep them. February's jar show topic will be parent and fry, in order to commemorate family day! (This topic idea was brought forward by Fishclubgirl. If anyone has any ideas for march meeting, feel free to send me a PM or email.
  20. I did not smell it, I think I got second hand smell when people were passing the jar around and it was an afront to my senses.
  21. Do you think it goes bad? I mean, it is salted and all.
  22. Just thought I would post a picture of this delicacy FCG brought to the pot luck tonight. A few people decided to open it and smell the deliciousness that is salted gourami, but no one took the plunge and actually ate one. Maybe next year. Thanks Vince
