Toirtis
Not that it matters much now, but no species of crocodilian is legal in Alberta.
dunl
Would have been nice to snatch it and get it to you, though.....
Toirtis
Would have been nice to snatch it and get it to you, though..... Indeed...I even have a zoo in Saskatchewan that would be eager for it, too....thanks for the thought, pity the advert vanished.
Nandopsis
I would like to know what happened to the Cayman that "Noahs Arc" had at their store? Or those Black Pacus? If anyone would know it would be you Christian
Toirtis
The 'caiman' was actually a very stunted American alligator that was purchased (along with the old-type transferrable permit) about 10 years ago by a private citizen. I have heard that it died a couple of years back. I am unsure what happened to the pacu, though....perhaps they are the ones that Ken Ealey has at his school....I will have to ask. tc51
Not that it matters much now, but no species of crocodilian is legal in Alberta. I would strongly suspect that this is why the add is no longer there. Tom

Toirtis
Looking at that advert, he could be anywhere....Ontario, the USA, etc....and since all legal responsibilities are on the importer, the seller would not be in any legal trouble if he shipped them to Alberta, but the receiver would be. snaggle
Christian you said that they are illegal in Alberta is that like aquatic turtles you can not buy or sell them but you can bring them in or you can not have them at all. Brad
Toirtis
Christian you said that they are illegal in Alberta is that like aquatic turtles you can not buy or sell them but you can bring them in or you can not have them at all.Brad You may not have crocodilians at all (fines can be as high as $100,000 per offense/animal, but usually run about $2500-$7500 per animal for a first offense). As far as aquatic turtles go, there are some species that you may not even possess (such as snappers, softshells, mud turtles, map turtles, blandings turtles, etc), and a few that you may possess, but not distribute (such as red-eared sliders, cooters, red-bellied, painted, etc)...but all other species are legal to both possess and sell, although federal law prohibits the sale of any turtle/tortoise imported into Canada (importing a turtle/tortoise for a personal pet is quite difficult enough and requires a slew of permits), so availability of legal specimens for sale is quite limited. Although WAPPRIITA should restrict/control interprovincial movement/trade in any exotic turtles species, of all the provinces, only Saskatchwan implements/enforces it in any manner.
