johnsmith
WC may be a challenge when the two 10G are so close to the ground. Unless your sink / tub or where ever the water is going is down stairs from the tanks. I have a ten on the floor and siphoning water into a bucket is a slooow process, however, using the python and empying it into the tub downstairs isn't a problem. That's a good point to consider. jakel2k
MDF board would be a bad idea. I've looked into this several months ago and you should really use plywood and not the partical board nor chip wood boards. With the moisture and the possible spills and leaks would weaken the board. Not something I would want to mess with. Even if you paint the board or water seal the board I'd still go with real plywood.

Let me know and then i'll be picking up the wood. thanks all! nev

nevchewy
Purchased the wood and got a small start on the stand over the weekend. After some hard thinking... we decided to go with 3/4 one good side fir plywood. It was about $20 more per sheet but i figured that it will stand a better chance against the water. Being new to this... i thought that i would probably rush the process in painting, and that would kill the MDF as it wouldn't be sealed properly. Pics to come soon! nev

nevchewy
Put the top on, sanded it, more screws for good measure and... now i'm ready to finish it. Since the wood work really turned out we are planning on using varathane to finish it. I got the first coat on tonight, and its looking really good! I will add more pics when i get the tanks added. Hope you all approve! nev Edited July 11, 2005 by nevchewy
