TheGr8Blade
I had purchased 5 small hermit crabs and 3 have died on me in the past 3 weeks. I cannot figure out why this is happening. There is no water problems. No aggressive fish. They just go into the shell and don't come back out. Very sad about this. Any help or suggestions would help. Thanks in advance! jvision
Try this linkhttp://www.hermit-crabs.com/ HOSS, I think she's talking about little critters living in her SW tank.... this page seems to be dedicated to land crabs. Though, I guess there may be similarities.
TheGr8Blade
Thank you for the link. I have/had red legged and blue legged hermits in a SW tank. Little tiny guys about the size of snail.
fatpuffer
How's your water parameter. From what I have heard....crustaceans and inverts are highly sensitive to water condition. Js P.S. have u medicated the tank lately?
Murminator
I think it would copper. Orrrr they are killing each other for their shells , are they changing shells? Are they physical gone? or are you seeing bodies? because they do molt and it looks like a dead body, if so doing a moving shell count to make sure. When I was a newbie I thought they were dying also but after I counted they were all they.
discus
I usto live out on Vancouver island and we had a local salt tank with hermits in it but they where a cold water species. Are your's a tropical or a cold water species? If they turn out to be a cold water species then that is why, warm water will kill them eventually
