  2. I've used salt most of the years i've kept fish, i love it and what it does for my fish, but now i've added some plants and started a different tank. Can i use any salt in the tank with plants? I have ich on some of my hatchet fish and a couple of Geos and usually i would use salt. any help would be appreciated.
  3. I would put salt in the water and up the temp a little.
  4. Hello and Welcome peoples. love to see some pictures of your Aquatic turtles always wanted one my self.
  5. Thanks everyone the suggestions are great. I don't really know much about freindly fish...lol. i give you all a little more history about me and the tank. I've kept oddities for most of the 20 years of fish keeping, datnoids, stingrays,Bichirs, eels, asian aro's,hundreds of types of fish justy nothing small and friendly. I sold a school of 13 7-8" clown loaches and bred discus for a couple of years as well. I'must admit i' really looking forward to dealing with these type of fish. I'll keep everyone posted and post pictures of my changing tank. I would love more catfish as well.
  6. Hello everyone i need help setting my tank diffrently than i have ever done before. I plan on having a few wild caught discus and Angels but what else can i put in with them ? I really like schooling fish, cat fish, pleco's any thing else i can add... The tank is my 230 gallon which will be emptyed this weekend. Filtration is a Fx5, Ehiem Pro3 and a Fluval 403. The tank will be at 78 deg.
  7. I'd love to see a pic of it

  8. Clown loaches click like crazy when they are feeding, and plecos and catfish croak when they are out of the water.
  9. I've seen Jardini's kill small rays actually i've had them kill alot of things. I find jardinis as one of, if not the most agressive Arowana i've kept.
  10. My father lives out past 'chestemere and he ran well water in his tank after it went through the filters that well water has to, and his discus bred like crazy and did really well. I'm not sure about the salt water softeners.
  11. What does he feed them in that video? I keep them as well.Currently i have: 2 12" Laparadei 2 12" Endlicheri Congicus 1 10" Pollis 1 14" Delhezi 1 12" Endlicheri Endlicheri 3 14" Polypterus Ornatapinnis 1 8" Long fin Polypterus Senegalus 1 6" Albino Senegalus
  12. To bad you werent closer i would trade a 50-60 gallon hex tank with a stand for some little ones.
  13. Congratulations....May i ask what your water parameters are,(how soft and ph) are they feeding off of the parents yet?
  14. Home depot will even cut up the ply wood for you.

    DIY Aquaponics

you will have to spray pollinate the Tomatos as well unless you have bee's in your house...lol
  17. I agree with the nice size tank and most silvers should be fine uless it turns out to be a real monster. I also agree with watching yur pleco with the rays i've heard stories of them eatting the outer disc's and slim coats. I have infact kept very large royal plecos with my rays over the years and just kept them well fed. Good luck is the tank drilled with over flow if not, do it asap those big fish with big appitites make big waste and i'm stll kicking my self for not putting and over flow with a sump in my 210 gallon.
  18. Golds is the store i have compared all others to in the last 20 years. No stores in Calgary stacks up to how clean and healthy Golds is. Did you take your fish back to Dennis to see what he said? He probably would of replaced them also some fish do not show signs of disease until the stress of being transferred around in a plastic bag for a while.
  19. Well out of all the arowanas i've kept the Jardini is by far the most agressive and i've had a few 4 silvers, 2 blacks, 3 jardinis, 2 sun spot lechardi, and asians, Jars are mean....I'm really glad to see my old Aro looking so good keep it up Pagani... Sure you don't want some servums or another catfish? maybe a dat or two....lol
  20. Remember to shorten your intakes too so you wont suck up sand and destroy you impellers and shafts.
  21. You constantly amaze me with your fish Rudy....I'd love a Platnum Bichir but don't feel like selling a car to get one ....lol you have any more pictures of your big tank in your living room?
  22. I have a ehieme pro III and i love it. very quiet, i'd trade of my 2 fx5's for another one in a second...If you decied against it let me know maybe i can get my hands on it....lol
  23. Thats the hardest part is getting them eatting. Mine loves frozen krill, eats like a pig ,it just took along time to get them eat them, i have to thaw them out in an old jug
  24. It was actually quite fast, use a table spoon per five gallons and what temp is the hospital tank? i turn mine up a little to speed up metabolisim and help the fish heal faster. Also a large clay pot with a hole a little larger than the eel is great for them to hang out in just make sure you see it time to time, i lost one in the pot once not good.
