  1. Great photos of some great fish.. Looks like you have lots of good spawning plant in there for them... Did you get them from Red Deer PL? Mooooose
  2. When I talked to acrylic places in town they were discouraging me from using it as well. They kept saying use Glass. Which I found strange as I was insisting on Acrylic... I was looking at if for doing up a much smaller tank than you are thinking of... So much for the customer being right. The acrylic that SeaClear uses to make tanks seems to be a pretty good quality to me and I've had no problems with my store built one from the States.. I love it. If I am ever in the states I might grab another Sea Clear acrylic from a PetSmart down there.. As long as you get the correct thickness I would suspect warping would be minimal??? River Front has that cool big Acrylic behind the Till... And BlkWolfe has that wicked one from the states.. I hope it works out for you. Moose
  3. *Is that a fat happy otto i see? Great photos everyone!
  4. (couldn't find the fingers crossed one. Fingers crossed for you! Moose
  5. Thanks FishGeek for the Hillstream loaches!!!! They look wicked. I have all of them in a high current set up and I hope to have success with them. Wish me luck.... (If anyone else is interested in some there were a few (2 or 3) in the Crowfoot Petland when I was there today.) Mooose
  6. so what is the policy on extracting the bad fish from the national park. I assume that is forbidden even though they are not natural? Moooose
  7. So sorry to hear about this.... I had a 58 blow a seam back in June.. It is not fun. I think your best off replacing with same or bigger size. I did the shuffle around for a while and thinking back to it I probably should have just gone out and got the same sized tank and been done with it. Moose and if there is any carpet involved grab some vinegar. I spend days getting fish smell out of the carpet... Get dry fast if you can...
  8. anyone seen 'Hillstream loaches' around lately?
  9. I saw those puppies they looked almost looked like something out of a comic book from the top... Nice catch! Hope you enjoy them.
  10. Hey I know that moon lighting is used primarly in salt water tanks but I tried some out on my lake tang tank and man was I ever impressed with the activity and how different the fish act under the LED's... It's pretty cool. My albino bristle nose was really active and all over the place as well. My Neolamprologus leleupi were enjoying them as well The rippling of the water and the beam of light makes me think of finding nemo... Moose
  11. What ever you do don't shake the shell..... Oh never mind.. too late (Just kidding.... ) Congrats on the fry guys!
  12. any container any size. usually a margarine contain or ice cream pail (my favorite) do a cup of oatmeal (fast cook stuff) and some people use the same amount of water but I tend to make mine much more gummy. (you don't want it to dry out but you don't want the microworms drowning in the water and also keep in mind as the culture grows the mixture gets a little more runny) place some of the culture with your yummy oats. poke knife slits in the lid of your container. Great stress release. *(think horror flick) put the lid on top. the culture will grow on its own. Try to run 2 batches at a time so if one happens to go sour you have a back up. (or do up a new batch every week and have 2 or 3 running) When they start to multiply like crazy you will see them moving under light it will look like the whole mixture is moving. I generally put the container in warmer environment and they start streaming up the sides towards the lid. You can now start harvesting them by scraping them off the side with finger or q-tip or plastic spoon....
  13. Ok that is just tooooo friken cool. That rocks! Thanks for posting!
  14. I second the hillstream loach being more hardy and longer lived. And they like to hang out on the side of the glass. Do the research and make sure you have the right tank for them and they will be happy....
  15. FishGeek is the Petland Superman that TheGr8Blade was referring to.... Soon she will be calling out "Elite Aquatics Guy...." then she will be referring to you.. haha
  16. I've only had fungus problems with cory eggs and that was a long time ago. I tend to not use any chemical.s What type of eggs are we talking about TheGr8Blade ?
  17. I would like to see it in place when you have time to set it up. I will pm tanker instructions.
  18. Haven't seen them in cowtown.. Would like to see them close up
  19. Those are cool looking fish.. what are they going for? Or are they just displaying them at this time...
  20. yeah that is a bad habit of mine... NOTHO just have to type it 200 times 500 times to train my brain... my snails are ramhorns.. and all great points about water changes and water quality.. I also don't recommend snails as a substitute to them. I just found it quick and easy to draw out snail poo.. Once again great points
  21. Excellent Article Oxquo..... One thing that I do that I don't think you mentioned with my killi fry is place a single snail in the hatched tank with them to clean up any excess food. I have single snails that don't breed as they are the only ones in the tank. (tricky to get a none pregnant snail) but I have 1 in each of my tanks. Easier to extract snail poo than it is to extract any excess fry food. Rivulus xiphidius!!! very exciting... Almost all my killi purchase's have been eggs. I would be interested in fry / sexed killi's as well. I was pretty happy to pick up male female notho at last springs CAS auction.... Moooose
