  1. very nice tank looks great but i have one question? how do you feed them with all those plants on the surface? if it is a sinking pellet of some sort wont some get stuck in the plants and rot? i have always liked the look of floating plants but that point always throws me off....
  2. well i think next time i am gonna bring a belaclava mask cause i sure feel like i robbed a few people... i got.... pair of F1 PS. elongatus... 12 german red fry about 1" long... 3 ruby red fry ... 3 red flush peacock fry... 5 super red empress... 10 eureka peacock fry.. trio of Neo. bueschei "zaire gold" (look amazing right out of the bags)... 6 firecracker lelupei (Spelling?)... 19 labidotropheus "hongi" ...1 AMAZINGLY large livingstoni male first guess is about 8" at least and a good size female aswell the male didnt take to the trip too well i hope he pulls through in the morning the female is doing good... 1 compressicep from raymond thank you ...there might be a couple more i missed too... so after all this that i bought when i went to pay for my bidding tab at the end it was 89$ crazy stuff... after everything was said and done i only lost one fish and i think it got stuck in the corner of the bag i thought there would be alot more deaths seeing as i didnt get home till 8:00PM great day and thanks everyone who put this on again this year i look forward to coming down next year
  3. probably just got "washed out" from the flash nice tank wish i knew someone who knew how to build one... :P
  4. trust me this tank looks MUCH BIGGER in person as for the water noise... you can stand next to it and have a quiet conversation so it isnt too bad i would guess when he gets the sump hooked up it will be alot quieter the video does seem alot louder then i remember
  5. also if they do have to special order anything and it takes a few weeks what i do is take a ordinary pop can cut a 1" strip out of the middle fold it in half a bunch of times and stick it between the impeller cover and the media storage cover then at least it holds the cover on tightly and you wont have to buy a new motor or impeller if it takes a while to get here and the sound will go away thats what i had to do and it didnt effect flow much if at all good luck
  6. what does MTS stand for? hey randall MTS stands for Multiple Tank Syndrome... because 1 is never enough!! I Have 10 tanks so far and i am a wonder bread guy too Daniel never knew you were into fish :P
  7. if soulosi's dont appeal to you maybe try some "kenyi" dont know the scientific name they have the yellow and blue mix too and are still fairly common at most petstores i think it is one of the few fish that the males are yellow and the females are blue... i have also kept melanocromis johanni's before and they did good in my 50G just some more options for you too look at
  8. yes you are lucky i left a "friend" in charge of my tanks when i left for the holidays (3 days off) i came back to a tank that was 3/4's empty and all my fish dead what had happened is somehow some sheets off my bed were placed over the tank and some fell in and it syphoned all the water out like a vacuum..... dont know why my sheets were off my bed.... and i didnt want to ask he felt pretty bad about it all but still there were 20 1"-2" baby peacocks just starting to get color the tank was roughly 30Gallon quite a bit of water to mop up!! everyone else seemed to look happy though
  9. very cool and so much color for just a young one congrats
  10. to get fry out of the tank i have always used a turkey baster make sure you get a clear one so you can see the fish in it and if possible get a clear rubber part(the part you squeeze) so you can make sure you dont squish the fry in case they get pulled all the way to the top (i dont have a clear rubber part and it is hard to make sure they dont get stuck

    Hi!

although some think it is cruel to do that i think it is a very good idea not only is it a great source of protein it is what happens to convicts in the wild and most other fish for that matter.... what are you going to stock the 210 with? do you have specific species in mind or a specific region these fish come from?
  12. Welcome to AA i too would like to dip my foot into the saltwater pond but i keep putting it off for some reason... i was told the bigger the tank the easier to maintain but the nano's look so cool.... right now i am a cichlid lover and i sure got alot of info off this site i am sure you will too
  13. the add was a looking for add.... but i was looking for fish not tanks... as for the phone #'s 963 is stonyplain 962 is spruce grove and 242 is a cell phone... the fish were 6$ each at 5/8 of an inch so price is pretty high i thought she didnt leave a price for the tanks just a # to call i didnt put her full phone # because of privacy issues and stuff like that i think i have seen a doris grandmother looking for stuff for her grandson has anyone else ran across this too?
  14. i put an add on kijiji a while back and i got 3 responses in 3 days from a person by the name of Doris.... she sent three different messages offering 3 different things..... first one was a couple of fry for 35$ (from lake malaui lol) was a 780-963# second was for a couple tanks (i wasnt looking for tank) 780-962# and then the third one was fish and tanks with a 780-242# my first instinct was SCAM!!! so i am wondering if anyone else ever got this before? i have heard of the lady that asks for free stuff for her "special needs kid" or the grandma looking for fish for her "grandson" i havent replyed to her emails.... they are all from the same email address but different phone numbers
  15. Welcome!!! what kinds of fish do you have?
  16. Welcome what kinds of fish do you keep?
  17. for your plywood stand is it secured to the wall? i would have thought plywood to be very flimsy.... but it looks like quite a bit of weight on it
  18. Click Here to see my Idea is 2-2x4 lumber glued and screwed together stronger then 1-4x4?? i do not have exact measurments of all the tanks but you can get a rough idea from the picture is my idea strong enough or will i need some sort of extra bracing? i will be securing it to the wall studs... this will be set up in my garage (cement pad) and i have lined the tanks up along the wall and they seem to fit with quite a bit of extra room so that isnt my issue.... i am only just starting to think this through so any advice at all would be great, do's, dont's, that sort of thing
  19. i really like stage 1 of your overhaul it looks neat and lots of space... stage two looks like almost too much rock but for the fish i think they would love the 2nd stage more
