Last month, I was moving my fish back into there original tank after giving it a good overhaul. One of my longnosed synos decided instead of being captured by net he would hide in a shell, well he was easy to move just picked up the shell and put it in the other tank. Ten minutes later he was still in the shell. I realized he was stuck and tried to give it a bit of a shake to help him out. Well that didn't work. Ward grabbed a hold of his tail while holding the shell upside down and managed to get him out.

Definately some great pics, I might end up getting hooked on them. This is kinda what I am hoping to achieve http://home.wanadoo.nl/v.a.kroon/terracom/...oorbeelden1.htm I really like the one with the snake in it. This is nice

Thats the basic idea. I want to build up the back with plants, like a natural shelf with some rock and wood. ( a mini tropical cliffside probably using the return filter like a waterfall against the back wall). Big Als in Edmonton has one very similiar to what I am planning on doing.

I am working the CAS trifold, and hoping to have it ready shortly, just need to do a few more graphics and hit some of the other board members for some photos. ThenI just need to laminate them. So probably within the next couple of weeks. Ward and I will probably be in on the weekend, remind us to leave some membership forms and the stand. Sharon

They do expire, I am not sure how long they are good for. What brands do you have? someone might be able to let you know where to look on them.

Has anyone started a Paludarium? I'm planning on starting one in the New Year. I am trying to figure out what might be the best equipment for one. I would like it to be tall, not sure how tall yet, as I would like the plants to come up and possibly out of the tank. so a minimum of 24". For width I was thinking about 24".To allow for a good amont of lant versus water. For length , who knows. I want a good mix of plants, submersed, emersed and general moisture loving plants. I would probably put my endlers in it along with corys and or ottos. So for questions. Types of plants? filtering options? lighting? heating? substrate? background to allow plants to adhere to? reptile? not sure if I will, still deciding. thanks Sharon

It usually means that is were they put the fry, the ones they are breeding the ones that are being grown out, the sick tank and the quarantine tanks are. If they didn't have a fish room they would be capable of having any furniture in there other rooms. Most people with fish rooms usually have one or more show tanks in a public viewing area.

I think most people think about how they would care for a new fish weather free or not. But I do agree that most people would do a little homework first if they are going to be dishing out a lot of money on a fish. I did see the post right after he posted it, I thought it would be the perfect time to jump on it, I have a little knowledge of Discus, I want to learn more about them, and possibly one day keep them. However, I know enough that they need some very specific care, and I do not have the setup for them at this point, so I passed.

I would definately say a Protomelas , but I am not sure which varient might be a stevensi

The part about hybrids I am leary about is that they get sold as purebred and not a hybrid. I would not want to by a young fry or sub adult and find out it is a hybrid and will not look or act as I had planned. I want what I pay for and expect.

Yes, tanks seem to breed faster than fish -roll-

OHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOO now I am starting to worry. Mental Note Pick up coffee at Tims Before meeting.

For most of the Board positions you don't need a lot of fish knowledge.I am using it to learn about fishkeeping and learn from others who know a lot more. There is always some one who has a wealth of knowledge, and someone who knows very little. Chances are if you have an aquarium you have some knowledge and some experience worth sharing with someone.

My dominant male, does just what you are saying. He usually finds a little cave area to sit in, and gets a greyish to blackish mottling on him, this usually occurs a few days before he gets aggressive and in a major spawning mode. After a couple of days the mottling fades and he returns to his bright yellow. Also means at least one of my females are holding.
