    Hello All

    welcome to AA. enjoy
  3. TFH subscription is a decent read, with plenty of variety. i'm past college level and i enjoy it.
  4. that's some woe. nice pics. Ontario fishing brings it all day long.
  5. i use my emp400s comboed with canister filters. if you are in a position to slap one of each on a tank, do it. or yeah fx5. that's what i'm doing with my 75. apparently the redesigned emp casing is now minus the little biowheel windows on the front. that blows.
  6. just enter your community and enjoy. http://www.environment.gov.ab.ca/water/dwq/regulated/
  7. i've only seen this behavior during anxious feeding sessions. if your nitrAtes are 'normal' at 0ppm, it could also mean no nitrAtes are present, but nitrItes are. has the tank cycled completely? were nitrAtes ever detected? is this an older tank setup or new?
  8. dang rudy, you always make great catches. isn't some guy (atlantic city?) actually able to breed cuttles in his home aquarium, so fresh stock is continuing through each life cycle? there must be articles online.
  9. yeah leon, that's some good diy. nice job
  10. for channa availability, i've seen gachua at bgals several months back marked as 'rainbows'. micropeltes is not an option lol.
  11. excellent setup examples. thanks, keep em coming. with a concrete foundation, it appears i can proceed with the three tanks i'd like to keep at home. and i can probably bump the 40 and add another 75 down the road. sweet
  12. here's an older link detailing an asian aro farm setup and the duties involved. enjoy http://dragonfish.com/info.htm
  13. no wallowing allowed. you'll be good brah!.
  14. i've also used the target playsand shown in finaddicts pics with no ill effects. rinse was a breeze, looks decent, inexpensive.
  15. great info folks - thanks. the situation i find myself in was unexpected to say the least and i gotta sort matters out by May long. i'm considering a breeder40g and 75g in the second room. with a breeder55g in the main room. that's not nutso right?
  16. what sort of tank setups have you seen in above ground apartments? has anyone ever had any problems with aquarium setups and condo boards? what if no board has been established yet? how would you feel if some 'dude' who lives above you kept a couple moderately sized tanks running? remember there is a hella good chance my fish room would be above your computer room/office. halp

    FX5 PUMP

i've finally sprung for one after the many positive reviews since FX5 came out. gave it a test run on a 29g last night with empty media baskets lol. it was pounding!
  18. that's some AA team effort. nicely done
  19. am looking into what maximum tank size(s) i can get away with above grade. this link pieces together lotsa fact/myth shared online; residential wood frame floors and aquarium weights so what is the largest tank you've seen on a second level or in an apartment/condo?
  20. k, found a old pic of the tank. i believe the cat ate my camera cable. this was the first stand i've built myself. design appeared solid enough for a 75~and simple enough to slap together. compare this to any store bought stand. no 'screw gun' required. i just used my palms lol...
  21. i've only used the freezer as a euthanasia tactic. already dead fish just go straight to the trash. as leon mentioned, i know the vodka/water solution works, and have heard of the clove mixture working also. swift decapitation is probably the most effective method~just hella harsh.
  22. congrats on the kin. is 'red bay' the basic morph available to the hobby?
  23. i cannot download pics to my laptop. cables missing (???). dang should have it located by the end of the weekend. i'll post the ....75g stand... i've built, and show you a store bought 55 stand for comparison..
  24. hey i modified this GARF design for a 75g stand. works well ~ peace of mind. actual site had plenty of diy stand details if i recall correct.
