ncrowell
Just curious as to what the best plecos are for an African tank. My tank is 45 gallons and the only pleco my peacocks and melanochromis interruptus have left alone is an albino bristlenose. JLake
try a larger one, but more importantly give it somewhere to get away from them. its a tough match, africans and plecos but it can be done in most cases. Jayba
A ton of people put bristlenose plecos with cichlids. Like Jay said, make sure he has somewhere to hide. He will do his thing all night long, and hide all day.

nancyr
I have 2 - 90g cichlid tanks with albino bristlenose (who breed - tho the fry get gobbled), a gold nugget L-18 and even a small clown pleco. All have existed for years - with lots of driftwood and lots and lots of caves and hiding places.

Okotoks
I have a common pleco and a striped rafael talking catfish in with my Mbunas in a 55g tank. Pleco and the Rafael tend to actually push the Mbunas around and work as a team when the Mbunas get a bit aggressive.
Ishkabod
I have a common Plecco in my tank and it gets it's finns nipped on the odd occasion when it bugs the dominant male but by and large it's nocturnal and the cichlids are not so there isn't much of an issue. jzz30tt
I've always done bristlenose. Other than a little curiousity i've never had much aggression but my rockwork gives them a safe place to go if needed.
