I have 1, he was given to me. He's a Flagfish, and on NLS, his colors are amazing.

I would like to learn about these fishes though and see pics from local keepers.

:w00t: That would be ok if it wasn't some foreign language lol Trying to be politically correct? :guns:

Sounding liberal to me hehehe

Killies are egglaying toothcarps. livebearing toothcarps include guppies, plattys, swords, mollies, etc.

Liberal!!!!......Bite your tongue!!!!....I am a TRUE Albertan thankyou and as such I am Conservative to the bone.

I'm just glad to hear it, figurin' there might just have to be a linch'in on main street. As a conservative just speak your mind and say it straight. None of them there fancy names. ( lol, I'm gonna pee my pants I'm laughing too much, oooo gonna get muscle cramps).

I'd say a killi/livebearer section would be better - or give it a forum w. 2 subforums: killis & livebearers.

Before we keep requesting new forums on here...how many forums do members eventually want to see on Alberta Aquatica? How specialized are people expecting the forum to get?

Just something for all to think about - what is YOUR idea on how specialized the forum should eventually become?

I dunno... I'm not opposed to more subforums. It makes research a lot easier, that's for sure. Of course, it might make for more work for Chris - if he and/or Jay think things are fine the way they are, then they're fine the way they are!

killi / livebearers would be good. As for specialized, Killi's are diverse and their cuteness often causes impulse buys much like bettas, they are also one of the most miskept species around, talking to Bill Bishopp for an hour about his travels finding killies in the wild is too intense to discuss and the surroundings we give them is nothing like they have in the wild. People keep trios of killies in half gallon bowls, few people know that they make great community tank fish for planted tanks and I can't even count the amount of people who buy them at auctions only to have the species deplete in their tanks with a lack of knowledge on how to spawn them.

To sum it up, The demand for a forum is only found by asking what the demand on the fish is and the thirst for knowledge about the fish is. Why not just group African cichlids and SA cichlids together? because they very immensely and people would have to search the World for answers. Of course there are other forums specialising in killies and cichlids for that matter, does that mean we want everyone to go find specimen sites? What would that leave this site? Just throwin stuff out there, s'all...

Things are cool the way they are, no doubt but check out the killi forums on sites like petfish.net it's very heavily used, the betta forum might be the heaviest but it still shows the demand for killi knowledge. Maybe Americans are just more into killies though.

I would like to see this site be as comprehensive as possible on the subject that it is devoted to as long as it's subjectives are actually used and/or needed by the general population that uses this site.

I one day hope that this site is one of the top three to pop up when anyone googles, dogpiles, web ferrets, or whatever search engine that you use, will churn out this site's name.

AA is an awesome tool for this hobby. The debates are civil on the most part and there are an unusually high number of truly gifted people on this site for accurate information. So, if another forum truly shows a higher level of comprehension, then I say "Why not?". :eh:
