Yes they can and will survive, they may also go after your fish.

When I was breeding live bearers I always had a good cover of hornwort for the fry and never had to worry about losing to many.

These 2 have been busy moving sand for the last 3 days, I think they are either getting ready to spawn or already have.

It looks like my Kribs are ready to spawn again. Imoved them into my 75g tank a couple of days ago and they have been industriously moving sand out of their flowerpot since then. I will post pics soon.

My understanding is they are almost impossible to sex unless they are spawning.
