  1. Thanks Quinn. These guys are quite amazing looking. Very difficult for a photograph to captyre the true sheen that they have. Funny thing is, I was on a chinese/thai or some other language website researching some info on platinum FH's the day before I had seen you were going to bring them in. You're selling them for quite cheap as I can see. A beautiful fish too.
  2. Just let your tank run its course, do water changes weekly, things even themselves out.
  3. Looks good for a $500 fish Charles Kole has done well with his FH's this time!
  4. My Oceanic has 300 watts of lighting on it, power compacts actually. They get HOT! Just use a thicker glass piece, that way it won't break next time.
  5. Neil, your setup works very, very well. I use those pads too, but I can't seem to find them anywhere..
  6. Lookin' good, you still have the other one? That thin will look sick when it's bigger.
  7. Dustin we're not here to patronize people's choices, we're simply here to help them. Welcome to AA!!
  8. So this will be my Fishfarm thread; all the fish I have ordered from Ken with pictures, from past and present. I should probably take some soon. I received an order today with top notch fish including: Barred Midas, Loiselli "La Ceiba", Panamanian Green Umbees, reg. morph Umbees, Freidrichthallis, Pearsei, Hartwegi, Dovii and Zonatum. I split the order with a couple friends, I only kept one Midas who Ed (tonton) is growing out in hopes of getting me a female. The Hartwegi, 2 reg. Umbees and the Pearsei went to Dakota (Dmaan.) The Dovii and half the Loiselli went to Devon (Dtrain) The other half of Loiselli, Freddies, and Barred Midas all went to Ed. I kept the Green Umbees, I've been wanting these things since forever lol. They are currently only 1/2" so pics would suck. Hefty price tag on these bad boys too. Pics will be up soon! I will ask the others to post their fish too!! Quinn
  9. I use the sponge, then poly wool, then bio max. Works like a charm. I swear by these filters.
  10. Once they start misbehaving then we will talk haha. I might be interested in your Texas Terror though ill know by monday Haha, in all seriousness Ryan, those fish are stunners. Tucker wants the Texas Terror too lol. I might have some other stuff you're interested in, I'll text ya.
  11. Wanna sell me your fish now Ryan? My Jag is up for grabs :P
  12. Yes and no Ryan. I mean they're will always be buildup down there in my opinion due to the fact that every particle in your tank flows over into the overflows. You would think there would be quite the buildup of wastes, but in fact there is only a little at the very bottom. I have a high flow rate and the water keeps mixing the crap up and bringing it down the durso. I have an old FX5 intake tube I shove down in the bio balls every once in a while to get all the crap out, and it works too.
  13. I completely disagree with that, Oscars need more than 55 gallons of water each. Remember these things eat very messy, poop lots, and are very hard to keep up with. I had a large (15"+) oscar who I was healing from battle wounds in a 55 gallon, and I had to do 50% WC's every third day just cause of how messy he was. I had an XP2 and an AC 110 for filtration, and he was still messy. Terrors and Dempseys are not as messy as Oscars but are still messy. Would you put either of these fish in a 35 for life? I sure wouldn't. I've seen Dempseys attain a size of 10-12" on occasion. I wouldn't suggest adding more than 2 more large cichlids (12"+) unless you plan on overdoing filtration and doing 50% Wc's almost every other day.
  14. Make sure there aren't any stains on it, and there are no bubbles that have formed in the silicone.
  15. I'd personally isolate them then until they get bigger. Good water and a good immune system on a healthy fish will win against almost any disease.
  16. That fish looks REALLY skinny, that might be part of the problem.
  17. They're only like 1.5-1.75" right now Jay. I've had all within the last six months, and either sold them or moved one. I have a Dovii, 3 Umbees right now, and just lost my Hait a while back. I also have a 12 F0 Trimac my buddy has. If you want I can hook you up. I would definitely be interested in the Trimac and or a male umbie (if available). I am a couple of weeks away from being set up but once ready I would like to follow up. I'll have some more Umbee for sale in a month, I can get Trimacs too, I order them from Van. or Florida. What will you be asking for your umbies? How big will they be? I can get the Umbees for next week. I just need to know if you want the regular Umbee or the "Panamanian Green" variant. Your best guess is to order 5 to try and get a male. you have, or your buddy has? I own them Dakota, they're just at Brandons house. I'm down to 5 now, they've killed each other off and a few have gotten bloat.
  18. Black your tank out, 0 light is the only thing that'll actually 100% work besides a UV filter.
  19. Question, is there any rot going on in your sump? You might wanna check that. I didnt have any pre filter in my sump once, and then the mulm built up in my biomedia and cause some rot, also causing a mini cycle that was hard on my fish.
