  1. hahaha...sorry to disapoint Jayba! You are allowed to put reserves on fish, however, if your reserve is not met you are expected to pay 30% of the reserve price...so it can be both a good thing or a bad thing if there isn't anyone willing to meet your price. I STOLE a bag of 3 Juvie Geo Altifrons, unfortunately one was passed...but I still got two good ones! I'm totally inspired to grow an amazing fish like Vince's! Luv his Male Altifrons! I also got a HUGE bag of Windelov Java Fern...so much that I split it with another person and therefore only paid $11. Looks great! Also came away with some pure strain Endlers that look amazing! Since I was so busy doing data entry, I missed out on quite a few bags of stuff i'd have luved to snag...but all in all...it was a wonderful turn out! Thanks to everyone who joined in the volunteering! It was much appreciated!
  2. Wow! Nice turn out! Some great deals!
  3. There is a Sandman hotel and Sheraton Four Points across from COP that seem nice as well.
  4. our auction size is likely the same. None of us really wants to be there past 5pm. We try to cap our lots at 500.
  5. Welcome to the forum! If you lose the community feel...that means it's time to change it up! The Calgary Aquarium Society is holding their spring auction on the 17th of this month! Great place to find some new fishy friends if you don't find what intrigues you here!
  6. I cull my shrimp all the time...though I let them go through several molts first to make sure they're not going to change (I assume that they do). When my orange shrimp breed, sometimes i'll get a few red ones in there...so they get to go to a cull tank...just to see what they turn into if they're going to change at all.
  7. That is very cool! Congrats! I'm curious to see how this goes for ya!
  8. when you get bigger hermits/more hermits, they'll pull each other out of their shells...so offering several other shells that are vacant is a good idea.
  9. Welcome to the forum! Maybe you could use your concrete know how to build a cool concrete insert in your tank one day. ..oh the possibilities! lol
  10. Hermit crabs are cool. Violent... but cool. :-)
  11. There are a bunch over at Riverfront. Fishclubgirl may have some as well...though I suspect she's hording them as she's in constant competition with her shoe collection. lol
  12. hahaha...the one piece L shape is tricky to cut...the break line wants to go straight across the whole thing instead of stopping mid way. The only way we've been able to get it done (the first time) was to do a curve and then continue up to complete the L. Tricky stuff this is! I have a starfire cube tank also in the mix that is waiting to be done...so I may just take it and...eeeeekkk...cut it to try to do the L. I just hate doing silicone in the house cause it stinks to high heaven. Warm weather will be my friend in the remainder of these projects.
  13. I built one cube, a couple small show tanks, but still waiting on the funky L shaped one. ;-)
  14. How about a Red Terror...or Jack Dempsy.
  15. You label with your Member number - 01, then member number - 02...etc. Of course, the name of what is inside is a good idea too. Max. 5 items. The club takes 30% (to support our yearly activities) and then you will get the cash later that night after all the accounting is done.
  16. Salvini are aggressive...especially when they're in breeding mode. Can't say I suggest any fish to go with them when they're full grown, though i'm sure there are some that i'm not thinking of at the moment. BOL
  17. It's postings like this that will have the club members evaluating what still needs to be done... and of course the more help and ideas that is received, the better the club becomes.
  18. i'm with jumpsmasher on this one...I have a female really really similar to that one...she was produced from other red cherries...just a throwback I guess.
