Damn.........that sucks. I am glad to hear the rest are OK.

I used to have 1M and 3F cobalts in a tank with lots of other fish. The males are real jerks. One by one all the females were killed off. He is still a bit of a jerk, but has calmed down with the rest of the inhabitants. It just seems that their conspecific behavior is really aggressive. HTH, Leon

I have one. After about two months, I was getting small bubbles from mine all the time. I cleaned all the foam pieces, and put it back together. Still bubbles. I took apart the impeller area, cleaned and put it back together. Still bubbles. :well: Cleaned all the biomax and put in a new polishing pad. Still bubbles. Then I remembered that when I first started this tank, I used a carbon bag under some pre-filter in the top tray. :bang1: I took that out, and what a difference in flow. Now it is a lot better and no bubbles. I am amazed that this pump has enough power that if you restrict the flow, intake side, it will pull air through the seal. Leon

Well done Gina. I totally missed that one.

Melanchromis joanjohnsonae or maybe melanchromis cyaneorhabdos. I know Kyle has both of these fish. HTH, Leon

Great job Kyle  And very impressive "how to".

Your question is hard to answer---tank size ---type of filtration--type of food--temperature---water changes---genetics---etc. there are too many variables to give you an exact time frame 75 gallon rena xp3 and aquaclear 200 nls cichlid 1mm sinking pellet 80 degrees once a week... = about 7 mos in general? my electric yellows are from leon who in turn I think received his from african fever? so genetics should be fine.. One of the fish has stayed extremely small though kinda Neat lil guy Just curious as a saw an electric yellow in a LFS and it was double the size of mine which i have had since august I was quite surprised when my F1 group started to spawn. I thought they were just too small. After talking to African Fever about this, I now know that the wilds are usuallly smaller than the multi-generation store bought yellows. My dominant male is about 3 1/2" long and he is almost 2 years old. I hope this helps. Leon

Well done... ......you can't buy stands like that. Definitely worth the time and effort.

Why does it say "Warn 0%"
Leon71 replied to Finny's topic in Site Suggestions & Ask a Moderator forum
If you are bad, your warn % will go up. It's all good when it is at zero. And you can only see your own warn percentage. Leon -
How come my log in doesn't update to my last visit?

Chlorine will dissapate, but Edmonton uses Chloramine!!!!!! This will not dissapate, that is why they use it. Always add Prime. And for those not using Prime, please check that the de-chlorinator you are using is good for Chloramine. HTH, Leon

My deepest condolences to all that had the pleasure to meet or work with Stuart. A great loss to the hobby.

That's pretty cool. Awesome fish as well.

What rubber band? :well: Do you mean the end of the under gravel jets? Just below the tail of the Fryeri.

I have sand in some of my tanks, but mostly Sil #9 from Sil Industries. It is a sandblasting sand that is very course for sand, but a lot finer than gravel. The fish play in it all the time. And it doesn't show the detrious. Best of both worlds. IMO. Leon I forgot to add, that it is cheap too. It's like $15 for a 90lb bag.

If you want to know about cichlids......go to www.cichlid-forum.com I have attached a cookie cutter for a 55 gallon tank. Just a suggestion as to what can be kept. I hope this helps. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/cookie_cutter_55g.php Leon

A year ago I bought 10 F1 juvie Yellows from Kyle. 4 of which were fairly white on the belly. But now, solid yellow, and very beautiful. And I also noticed different sets of fry from this group will range from pale yellow/white to full yellow and showing very good black. Even at 3/4". Anyway, not to worry. Thanks again Kyle for some beautiful fish. Leon

Just some amazing scars for me. I did almost loose one important piece which was my head. I had to have 46 stitches to close that one up. Daaaaaammmmmnnnnnn  ........I am glad you made it home in one piece. That sounds like a close one. Can't thank you guys and gals enough for what you do over there. All the best, Leon :ml:

I agree with not having it full when you move the tank. But with that said, I assumed that it is on a stand and all you are really doing is sliding the stand out. My bad. Definitely do not lift a tank that is not properly drained. And get help if you can.
-
Would it be possible to do a 50% water change and slide it out then? It would only be 150lbs plus substrate and rocks.

I'm with Sailor and option "C". Leon
