  1. I read that story as well, very interesting. There's no way they'll become extinct as they are available in the hobby and hobbyists will step if they need restocking to a designated safe place in the wild.(?)
  2. Have you tried softening their water? A couple of small dither fish?
  3. It depends on the kinds of fish you're keeping in the tank. If you've got fish that originate from riverine environs, then it's probably OK. If the fish are really struggling in the current they could be using all their energy just maintaining position and suffer a gradual decline. Some fish, like danios, rainbows, barbs, etc. would probably do well in the current.
  4. Assuming that you have lots of plants in your shrimp tank, why would you bother with a filter?
  5. I can't agree with Frank more. The large oscar may be OK with proper packing, but the large ID shark's welfare would be in serious jeopardy, even with the best packing. The ID shark is too easily spooked to consider transporting.
  6. And I bet Petcetera by me goes out of business because of this. And this is a bad thing to happen why?
  7. No. They are a wholesale company.
  8. We were in and they said that their grand opening will be in October. Obviously you don't want a grand opening to happen until you are completely ready to showcase your dream. From what we saw it is an ambitious undertaking, that when done, will be spectacular.
  9. The only time mine had anything to do with the plants was to clear some surface plants away from the corner of the tank where they kept their nest of floating eggs.
  10. Those ones you saw are almost full grown and I think that you could easily have six if not more of the bleheri in a well-planted 90.
  11. They got in some really nice CB bleheri that were at least 5" TL. They are as vividly colored as I've seen. (and I've bred them before)
  12. They are neither. They are listed as C. "Burma".
  13. Have you tried using spray bars with your canister filters? I use mine at the surface pointed horizontally from one end and have had a friend measure oxygen content of the water. He said that the only water he'd measured higher was from a system with a tower filled with bio-balls.
  14. I bought 3 lights from them a year ago and had to take one or another back at least 4 times. IMHO not worth the low price.
  15. Pisces had some nice zebra shrimp when I was in there on Wednesday.
  16. If you've had the goldfish for a while and they have been well fed, I would feed 2X/week and don't do any water changes.
  17. I think that your common sense approach thus far is working for you and the little danio. He should be able to compete for food with the adults before you introduce him to them. Good luck!
  18. Pisces in Calgary has a display tank with some that is all over the bottom.
  19. Gina and Jason, all you need is some baker's yeast dissolved in water. Feed just enough to cloud the water and don't feed until the water is clear again. If you need green water call me.
  20. Where'd you get the Paralabidochromis and the Lipochromis from?
  21. I can only speak to Grow, Community formula and Cichlid formula, but all my catfish and bottom feeding fish take all of these sinking foods voraciously.
