Algae eater for five-gallon tank
frying_high replied to fishprincess's topic in Bottom Of The Barrel
Here is the wee baby filter I mentioned, I do have it on my 5.5 but my 4 betta do not make much mess, I also do regular water changes, think it cost me like $8.00 : The Red Sea Nano Filter is a highly efficient mini-filter. It combines mechanical, biological and chemical filtration for superior results. Suitable for aquariums up to 3 gallons. Adjustable flow control allows for use in various styles and sizes of aquariums. Easy to install and maintain. Silent operation. Made for use with Red Sea's Deco Art Aquavase collection. Hydor Mini Heater-7.5 Watt is the wee heater I installed too. I figured instead of worrying if they were cold, so I bought this one. Once again it was $9.00 I think -

I am a newbie, have no clue about fish, but looking at the pictures of a Boesmani rainbow fish, and your picture, I would say your probably correct on ID, size seems off though. Maybe a better option may be the Australian rainbowfish, bigger in size, maybe a bit off in color but not drastic as the boesmani. Not only is it cool to try and see if your correct, I learn more about fishes!! So, thanks for asking, gave me a chance to learn about yet another fish. Found this site for info on the Boesmani. and Austrailian Take a peek, hope it helps a bit. -

in my 5.5 I bought a little nano filter and undergravel heater. as far as small plec's, a Bristlenose pleco is good, only grows to 5" in size, cool looking too. Profile on Bristlenosed pleco -

They must be young ones? I looked them up because they are nice looking fish, but all I get are adult pics, no juvies and the thread-finned cichlid has..well you guessed it, fins that look like threads. Very cool looking fish though, where'd you find them at?

LOL...Oh noooo. Thats humorous but I am sorry for your loss

Thats ok, wanting to definately keep color in my tanks so was going to get me a few boys of each and find homes for the rest. Not interested in breeding them right now.

Mommy and Daddy are Beautiful/Handsome, Very nice looking fish! Love how they were all protective of the eggs even from you, swimming at the tank edge trying to get you away in the video, very protective.

YAY! More babies!! Congrats yet again

That would be awesome to see..very educational! Aww who am I kidding I think it would be neat to watch the whole play up to mating, like to see what kind of interaction they have when first meeting occurs. Good luck! -roll- TOO FUNNY!

Ok, so the dilema is this, bought a bunch of awesome babies from a member of AA. Of corse I got them home and put them all in the same 20gl tank. How can I..if possible at all.. tell the difference between eurekas and sunshines at 1/2" ? Any way of doing it?? I am thinking I may have to hurry up and wait unless there is a trick to it (other than keeping them seperate) LOL :boom:

Hello! And welcome to AA. I had the same problem with my Betta's and now moved them into a 10gl, way happier! I just went to Big al's and bought the little package incl lights and lid..20 bucks i think. They have little mini filters and under gravel heater, keeps it nice and warm in there. Anyways, nice to have you join the group!
