  1. sweet looking cat! I would love to get me one, but sadly I don't have a big enough tank for him. all I can house right now is a couple of Raphael catfish.
  2. I run nothing but the sponge and the biomax in all my AC filters.
  3. well Johnny is fitting right in my 90 gallon with my other plecos, he already buddys with Pete and was already ready eating just fine, hasn't eaten any of the zuccinni yet but went right for the algea wafers and shrip pellets, and he picked his spot to hang out in, snuggeled right up to one of my Raphael catfish. Thanks for bringing him he is a nice looking pleco and I will take good care of him.
  4. if they are anything like my guppy fry they will bury themselves in the gravel to hide.
  5. I run Aquaclears on all my tanks, and never had a problem with any of them, I have 8 of them ranging from the 20-110.
  6. maybe they hang with Convicts?
  7. diy co2 systems are great for small tanks, but anything over a 30 gallon tank, it doesn't work worth beans, the cost of the suger really adds up fast, in the long run a presurized system is worth the money and time. If you really want a good how to video on making the system check out urau Joey's Utube video on it or check out diyfishkeepers.com , you can find him also on Facebook as well.
  8. I noticed the heavy clorine smell of the water lately, I do as Vallisneria does I dose for the whole tank as well normally, never had a problem yet, I use my Python as well, with 250 gallons of water in all my tanks the old syphon and bucket it's too much a pain in the butt.
  9. I will still take it, I have a spot for it that I think it will enjoy, as a temp home, once I get my 240 up and running I am sure it will really love that, with all the flow and all the river theme that will be going on in it, with around 2400 GPH of flow running across the tank. I pm you back, so give me a call, will see what we can do.

  11. nice! that looks great, thanks for the good idea.
  12. depending on how bad it is you might be able to get the glass shop to repair it like a rock chip with resin they use, once it's cured your good to go, have to keep it dry for 24hrs, if it's a light scratch you might be able to buff it out using a glass polishing compound, don't think I would use Ajax in my tank though.
  13. heres a trick to slow the flow down without throttling the output of the canister filter back but will decrease the flow back to the tank, take a ballvalve and 2 T fittings with barb fittings on both ends of the 2 T fitting glue the ball valve between the 2 fittings, install this setup in your input and output lines depending on how much you open the ball valve will dictate the amount of water heading back to the tank, this will also allow you to double the filtration of the water by sending some of it back into the canister, this will alow normal flow through the canister with out causing the pump to work any harder then normal operation. this trick can also be used on a sump set up as well.
  14. I have seen a few people who run a loop with a thermostatic control from the hotwater heater attach it to the bottom of their moster tanks then run it back to the hotwater tank again, seems to work on the big 500+ gallon plywood tanks so I can't see why it wouldn't work on a smaller set up.
  15. that was an intresting read, but I am curios as to what specs the Canadian home is built too, as the link was discussing the US codes? Because my buddy came over looked at my floor 2x10" 16" on center 12' span, looked at the 3 beams 2x10"x3 suported on 2 steal poles and said quote " go a head and put that 240 in there you will have no problem what so ever" now the wall I am putting it in front of is the load bearing wall, I will be spanning 8 feet the lenght of said wall, I even asked if I should add extra support so the front of the tanks weight will be held by another beam and 2 post, and he said you could but it is really not needed, so my question is this who is right? So now I am think maybe I should add that extra beam and poles, because my figuring is the tank with all the water is going to be around 1900-2000 lbs.
  16. do you have a picture of it? I have a nice 90 gallon with gravel and lots of mopani and malaysia wood, It would be eventually going into a 240 gallon tank that will house only plecos and 2 big oscars and 2 Raphael Cat fish, I love plecos!
  17. I wish my bag would fill it self with fish, but sadly it never happens , can't wait to see your pictures.
  18. so what do you think about adding Epson salt to the water once a month?
  19. I have a 29 gallon that I set up as a fry tank, I put the holding mother in it and let them do their thing, I had one strawberry peacock I had to strip because she had a rock in her mouth as well, I use the net to fish her out and to keep my hands off of her then using a q-tip open the mouth and let her spit them out into a bowl, dunk her a few times and double check her mouth is empty, put her back in the tank to rest then punt her back to the main tank the next day, I have the batch of eggs tumbling right now, and 35-40 fry in the tank growing out about a 1/2-5/8" or so. normally I let them hold till they spit them normally, if you strip them some will not hold their fry full term on their own and then you always have to strip them later on.
  20. that's look cool, even a real picture of it looks good.
  21. remember to always unplug your heater 10 minuits before doing a water change, oops! never try to catch a 11" pleco barehanded good way to slice your hand open. Catfish squeel and make farting noises when pulled out of the water very funny to hear. I don't keep fish I keep water.
  22. another trick with o-rings is if you put a little bit of plumbers lube on it it will help the o-rings go into possion with out damaging them, same stuff used to lube your tap valve seals, safe for fish as well, I use it to lube all my AC filter shafts, and motor seals on the housings, never had one fail yet.
  23. no problem been on that site now for almost 2 years learned quiet a bit there and everyone is very helpful, that's where I learned most of the stuff need to build my 240 gallon plywood and glass tank, and all it's filtration and lighting systems.
  24. I got a really good deal on the glass for my 240 from the guys at Glass superstore on 51 ave.
  25. looks good! but it's not wide enough for Rays, you want a tank that is 4-6 feet wide so the rays can turn around in it. can't wait to see it when you got it up and running.
