Ron
I set up a new filter yesterday on my 10 gallon PFR tank so I thought I would snap a couple pics. The first is from when I first set it up on February 20th and the second is from today, exactly one month later. I've taken a couple swords out and added a couple Marimo moss balls since the initial set up. It amazes me what kind of growth you can get in a low tech set up. Thanks for looking, Ron

What kind of lighting are using? Are those LEDs in see on the photo on the right? I am debating about switching over to LEDs to save on electricity costs but not sure how they would do with a planted tank. Hung

Not a super expensive fixture but does well for the plants I have. Honestly, I don't even know the plants I do have as I had a friend pick them and the only criteria I gave was their care had to be "easy". Niglin
I guess I'll start with my 90g african tank. The pic a bit old as some of the fish have changed but the rockscape is the same. Now I have yellow labs, rusties and M. Cyans. Nice tank, very clear, what's the secret?
creekbottom
I figured I would finally show one of my tanks. This is the one I'm happy with, although it needs a trim right now. 10 gallon HOB filter with modified inserts DIY CO2 through an airstone in the bottom of an internal filter - works really well. 2 x T5HO bulbs fertilizing with PPS pro. Cherry shrimp ember tetras corkscrew valls Mayaca fluviatilis java fern anubias nana cryptocoryne ? water wisteria Bacopa caroliniana Ludwigia repens hairgrass HC hornwort pheonix moss mini fiss - temporary wow there is ALOT in there. That algae right in the front is on the way out too!

Keeps me honest with the maintenance and water changes!
cjerrom
CO2 with pH at 6.6-6.9, 4 - 65W 6500K and 10000K Power compacts. Lots of plants - tank dimensions 4ft L X 30" H X 18" W Filtration with XP3, inline Hydor 300watt heater, and 18 watt UV Turbotwist Powerheads in back circulating forward to minimize dead zones and keep circulation high with an air pump and 24" air stone operating 24hrs as I need a lot of aeration to keep the plecos and this level of stocking when using CO2. Fish: Altums - 8 months old (10) Red Spot Discus - 6 Royal Blue Discus- 4 Alenquer Discus - 1 Coari Discus- 1 Rummy Nose- 160 Cardinals- 60 or more Plecos - Gold Nugget, Mango, L200 - Green Phanton, Tiger Pleco, 3- L007 juvies, 3- L-201 Inspectors, 2- LDA-19, 2- Pitbull Plecos Plants - Lots - I like the fish to be pushed to the front so the plants are heavy towards the back! jvision
If you're running and airstone AND CO2, you are losing almost all of your CO2 to the atmosphere. In a heavily planted tank that is fertilized properly, you'll get close to 100% O2 in the water - way more than you'll ever get with an airstone. Otherwise, sounds like a great tank. This is a photography thread, so lets see some pics!! EDIT: Just noticed the previous post has a link to your tank. Looks good.
jamesbarr
I had the contents in my 33 gal in Oct. Moved to a 60 gal and was hoping it would have filled out more by now but, alas, here I am I need driftwood and more high growing plants. cjerrom
The CO2 is delivered with a very fine diffuser I got only a Pisces after looking around the city. The glass ones would clog up after about 18months. So I have a power head blow the minute bubbles downwards keeping them in solution. The lids are tight fitting so the CO2 is still heavily absorbed since the PH can drop within 15-30mins. I know you are right about losing most of my CO2 but if I don't put the air stone on the fish gasp at the surface in the morning and it really stresses them out, especially the Altums. I will post pics via photo bucket as it is very hard to get any pics on here of any size.
